Publisher of “George Price: A Life Revealed” receives prestigious award
Ian Randle, founder and chairman of his namesake publishing company in Kingston, Jamaica, was instrumental in the printing of George Price: A Life Revealed, a biography authored by Godfrey Smith. The memoir, which was launched in December 2011, later made it onto the top ten list for the 2012 One Caribbean Media Bocas Prize for Caribbean Literature. While the book went on to win in the non-fiction category, Randle is tonight celebrating another milestone achievement in his storied career as a preeminent Caribbean publisher. He is a recipient of the Prince Claus Award, a prestigious honor in recognition of his commitment to culture and development. Randle joins Peter Minshall, a designer from Trinidad and Tobago, and Erna Brodber, a writer from Jamaica, as the only three English-speaking Caribbean recipients of the coveted prize. The award is named in honor of Prince Claus of Netherlands and is supported by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
