Aunt of Murdered 2 year old still detained; new details revealed

Who killed baby Kaylee? There are more questions than answers in the death of Kaylee Burgess; the young child that was found dead one week ago at the family house in Ladyville. When police visited the family home, the baby was in the arms of her mother, Deidra Pratt, while her father, Kevin Burgess, was at the police station. It was first reported that the baby was found dead in a bucket of water, but as it turns out Kaylee died of suffocation so the police are treating the investigation as a case of murder. No one has been charged so far but the child’s aunt remains in police custody. She has been transferred to the Belize City police station and according to our sources she has not been too forthcoming but there are now new alarming reports on the death of the child. It is reported that she had injuries to the face, bruises on her neck and that she may have been sexually violated. Duane Moody camped out in Ladyville today and has the following update.

The death of Kaylee Burgess on September fifth has sparked an investigation by the Ladyville police who believe that foul play was involved. Since the incident one week ago, several family members have been detained. But here is what we know: the child died two days prior to her second birthday while in the care of her aunt, Saphira Pratt. Doctor Mario Estradabran has confirmed that the child died from suffocation sometime around six and not by drowning as initially said by Pratt family who claimed they found the toddler in a bucket of water. Since suffocation was the cause of death, the investigation has taken a new angle: murder. 
There is another disturbing report, which is unconfirmed, which suggests that the baby had a horrific death and that there were unexplained marks of abuse on her body. Three persons, namely: Donovan Pratt, his brother Devon Pratt and their brother-in-law and boyfriend of Saphira, Donovan Lozano were initially questioned in connection with the death of baby Kaylee. All three were released on Sunday evening and on Tuesday Saphira Pratt was detained and continues in custody. While a motive has not been established, News Five understands that the police are gathering the final details in this case that has shocked the Ladyville community. It is expected that charges will be levied shortly
Waterboarding sounds like a good idea to me. This case grows increasingly horrible every day — my heart aches for the suffering the child apparently lived through in that family.

I really hope ComPol puts the BEST detectives on this one, that they follow the book, and DPP is up to getting a conviction. This case and Bert Vasquez are the ones that demand bloody justice the loudest.
God, have mercy on Belize. This crime is horrendous and I pray that our country come closer to Christ Jesus by asking for forgiveness of all sins and in receiving the Holy Eucharist. Get baptised and pray for out country. Only our Father almighty can save this nation from the Evil that seems to plague our nation.
I hope the police will soon bring charges against the family…one of the family member say that the baby was found in a bucket..that the pampers was floating…another family member say only a little bit of water was in the bucket…something is really wrong with this family they all need to be locked up.
These cases make us put things in perspective. Unfortunately, Belize doesn’t have much to offer anymore when it comes to safety, especially for our children. I just pray that justice lays hand on the culprit/culprits who could commit such a horrible act to an innocent child.
I cannot believe it has taken so long for there to be an investigation into the people who this child was left with. From the reports, the series of events that unfolded, it doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure that if the child was left in the care of her maternal family, they are liable for her demise!!! When did the child disappear? Who was she last seen with? Why did the family immediately “ASSUME” the father had her? Did he put on some sort of invisibility cloak, walk onto the property and subsequently disappear with the child? Why didnt they thoroughly search the property initially before looking outside or accusing someone who was not there?
This is a horendous crime against this poor baby…she is now at rest and all the pain and cruelty of this world will no longer affect her but as a mother myself I cannot begin to fanthom the cruelties she experienced leading to her death. I BEG of our ComPol and the DPP’s office…PLEASE do not drop the ball on this one…Kaylee, like Jasmine, deserves JUSTICE and nothing less!!!
Estradabran is a bushdacta, he determines time of death by the contents of your stomach. that can’t hold up in court. I think Arthur is salivating to get this case once somebody is charged.
in the year 2012 I beleive BELIZE must be one of the only countries in the world without a qualified forensic pathologist.
THE REAL REALITY IS THAT THIS CASE IS A FIRST FOR THE POLICE.. DEY DONT KNOW WTR THEY ARE DOING. WE ALL KNOW THAT THIS IS A COMPLETE SET UP. THEY HAVE INSTRUCTED ESTRADABRAN TO WRITE THAT THE CHILD DIED FROM ANOTHER CAUSE DAN DROWNING BECAUSE THIS IS A PUBLIC OUTCRY. AND THE POLICE WANTS TO PLEASE THE PUBLIC. I CUD IMAGINE WHAT THE FAMILY IS GOING TRU MOURNING THE LOSS AND NOW THE FAMILY IS ACCUSED OF MURDER?? GET REAL PPLZ!! BZE POLICE DEPT, ESTRADABRAN AND OTHERS ARE CORRUPTED. DONT JUST LISTEN OR READ STUFF FIGURE OUT THE REALITY WHATS HAPPENING HERE IN OUR COUNTRY..
It is very disturbing and heartaching to read about these things happening to innocent babies. Its the parents responsibility to look out for their kids whom they decided to bring into this world cause no one else will. Stop focussing on yourselves and worrying about your own problems and stupid decisions. Men and women come and go in our lives but our kids are there forever. Look out for who you both brought into this world; parents don’t need to be together to do this. I hope they find the one responsible for this horrific incident and be dealt with in the same manner.
People in that family know what happened, but they appear to be covering up a baby-murderer among them. That is as evil as evil gets. I would not want people like that near my family!
@ REALITY Did the police also bust the child’s lip bruise her little face and neck and possibly even raped the child? Come on, the evidence proved that something terrible happened. I dont know who in either family would do that to her but I know the police are no fools. They knew wat they were dealing with from the very beginning.

People we need to educate ourselves….. Dr. Estradabran IS a qualified forensic expert… he was “loaned” to Belize over 25 yrs ago by the Mexican government….. he was later lured with an attractive benefits package to stay in Belize as our forensic pathologist…
he has many years of experience as forensic pathologist……and is definitely qualified…

have him show his papeles, I remember he working as a general prctitioner at the old hospital then suddenly he started working for the police. general medicine clinic on Hydes lane for many years. no formal training as a forensic medical pathologist. ( which by the way is a minimum of seven years after medical shool) have him or you prove otherwise @ roshka

She’s a beautiful gurl who didn’t deserve this death. But GOD aint sleeping and who so ever did this will suffer greatly. I cant help the fact that i feel the father pain in this situation. But u best believe somebody will CRACKED and call out the person who did it. God work in mysterious ways, sooner or later the killer will be revealed. I lost faith in BZE CJ system…..so the BURGESS family should leave it in the hands of god and let GOD bring culprit to light…..GOD gonna bring him to justice……and who so ever it is…they CONSCIENCE is killing them
