Feel the vibes at the Pan Yaad Concert
As the pied piper commands children to follow his tune, so does the reverberation of a steel pan calls Caribbean people to sway to the beats that flow from one Island nation to another. And though the history of steel pan resounds with African history in the region, it is a musical form that unites the Caribbean. The steel pan’s rise in Belize has also brought a brother from the diaspora, Dane Gulston, who travelled from Trinidad to perform at the Pan Yaad, on Friday night. The festival was held at the House of Culture in Belize City and the guest performance by the distinguished pannist thrilled the audience as did the Pantempers, Panorifics, and the Grace Primary School steel bands. Here are some highlights of Friday night’s Pan Yard Concert.

The Pantempers have now been invited by the Taiwanese Embassy to perform in Taiwan in October.
