The search continues for former police officer, sixty-four year old Conrad Jones, who disappeared after being dropped off on the Western Highway in Hattieville last Wednesday night. Conrad, a Customs Guard, was returning from a trip to Benque Viejo, but was not brought all the way to Belize City because the company driver was taking the Hattieville/Boom Road. His family has been told that up to two-thirty on Thursday morning; he was still seen waiting at a bus shed near the roundabout. Conrad’s daughter, Shilpa Jones, says that police as well as the Customs Department continue to search for him. As the days pass, Conrad’s family fears the worst, but hope for the best. Anyone with information that can assist them is asked to call 605-4606, 207-5037 or the police.

Another sad story because of he lack of law and order in the country good job judas you are doing such a good job. This year 114 murders already at this rate in another 4 years of barrow and this gov. We will have over 600 more murders in the country their will be 600 more greaving families march belizeans march.
I believe the driver should be held accountable. How can you just leave an elderly man on the road at that hour of the night knowing that in Belize we have no buses that run late at night. What heart can he have. He should have brought that man home to Belize City regardless of what he was told. Shame on the driver. I only pray that he is found alive, because in our country “wen u gone, u gone.”
Totally agree with you Reality. When you have been missing for so long in Belize it is usually not a good sign. So I wish his family all the best in finding him alive. The driver should definitely be held accountable in some way.
And to Rod, is anything ever not the pm and gov fault…..ANYTHING!!!!!? You rant and rave everyday blaming the gov for everything under the sun. If someone steps in a puddle of water, the gov is to blame. Are you crazy or just ignorant? I’m sure the opposition isnt doing anything for you either so quit wasting our time with your comments.
I believe the driver should be fired just for being stupid & uncompassionate. What the hell is wrong with him???? Who leaves a person on the highway at that hour knowing dammm well that no buses run those hours & an elderly person at that………….SMDH.
from now on i will start naming all belizeans who continue to try and protect this awful pm and gov. worse in the history of belize by continueing to defend this so called leader are people who in my mind are also to be blamed for all the murders going on in this country and ill name them every day starting with RIDICULOUS NO1 .
Taking a sad incident of a missing person and turning it into a political war is not cool. Its the same kind of practice that has us where we are today. Lets stop relying on the gov to hand everything to us and come together as a people and get things done. UNITY IS STRENGTH!!!!
I suggest we volunteer to be part of a search party and by groups we go out and comb the area… remember he is diabetic and maybe he became disoriented and tried to walk to town when no vehcile stopped for him, he could have becoem disoreiented and stumbled intonearby bushes and got lost… honestly, the family is too distraught to think about it, but we the general public and maybe family friends can suggest it and organize it for them… that is my suggestion… anyone interested tell me and I gladly will help. i guess i should give the daughter a call.
So sorry that Mr Jones has not yet been found. This certainly does not look good. I hope they search the bushess nearby, becasue if he was diabetic and hypertensive, he may have gotten disoriented and wondered in the wrong direction.
Reality and deedee, I agree totally, this driver needs to be fired, and the customs department held accountable and be made to pay this family a large sum of money if in fact this man is not found alive. What was this driver thinking. leaving a person regardless of age at a deserted location such as the roundabout. When I am going home to Hattieville at night, it is dark in that area, also not to mention the kind of people who hang out up there.
This is unacceptable practice, there is a lack of procedures in every part of this government structure. I am not saying that udp is responsible, but no one seeks to look at outdated procedures or if there are even written procedures, but certainly they are in power and can call for a restructuring of departments policies, which will include expectations when traveling on company business, especially the use of alcohol while on business hours, this also is a big problem.
The coutry needs to be brought into the 21st century and away from the colonial days. Remember we are selfgoverned now, so let us govern rightly and soundly.

@Al I agree policies and procedures implemented under the Colonial system is no longer effective; and must be brought up with the 21 St Century. Not only must they be changed it important that if changes are made, they must be enforced. If changes are not enforced it is useless, in my opinion to even amend our change the procedures or the Constitution.
