Fitzroy Yearwood

Meanwhile, the alleged victims in the Capital are nineteen and twenty year old females. According to the nineteen year old, she left Rain Drops Bar in Teakettle Village at around midnight last Saturday and went to a friend’s house. Five men that she knew also went to the house and one of them followed her, choked her and raped her. In the other incident, the twenty year old victim was walking home at around one-thirty this past Sunday morning when a man on a motorcycle offered her a ride. But instead of taking her home to Roaring Creek Village, the woman says he took her into a feeder road and raped her at knifepoint. Police Press Officer provided further details on both incidents at today’s press briefing.

Insp. Fitzroy Yearwood, Police Press Officer

“We had another rape in Belmopan this time where a twenty year old female of Roaring Creek Village reported on the twenty-third of September, about one-thirty a.m., she was walking home from a party on Intelco Avenue when she saw a Hispanic person on a red motorcycle who stopped and offered her a ride. She accepted the ride. She got on the motorbike and the male persons drove and instead of taking her home, he drove in the direction towards Belize City and took her to a feeder road between miles forty-seven and forty-eight on the Western Highway. She is saying that he put a knife at her throat where he told her to shut up where he had forceful sexual intercourse with her. This male person then drove off on the Western Highway leaving her behind. She also was taken to the hospital for examinations. We had another rape reported in Belmopan. a nineteen year old female reported that on the fifteenth September 2012 at twelve o’clock a.m., she left Rain Drops Bar in Teakettle Village en route to a friend, she knew only as Tiffany, residence within the Village. She admits that she was consuming alcohol prior to that. She is saying whilst there, five male persons known to her as: Ernesto, Elton, Richard, Andre and Orlando arrived at the same location. She claimed that she went outside of the house and was followed by Elton Vasquez who pushed her to the ground, choked her and had sexual intercourse with her against her will. Police have since detained Richard Grey, nineteen years; Elton Vasquez, eighteen years; Orlando Reyes, eighteen years; and they are looking for the other two men in connection with this rape report.”

@STORM, CASTRATE RAPISTS IS ONLY A 1/4 OF THE PROBLEM. What are these ladies doing at these hours? I have said it again and again, each person is responsible for their own self!!!!!! If you know its dangerous, why are you still doing it? What? Getting drunk, walking alone middle of the night, whats going on? Low self esteem and self respect is what I see

@Belizean, Rape is a crime of violence, and no female should be subjected to it anywhere, or at any time. Must we be prisoners in our homes because we have surrendered the streets to the criminals?

My sister was kidnapped and raped when she was 5 years old, and I don’t think you can blame her. Can you?
