Cop loses both feet in Punta Gorda motorcycle accident

While Longsworth and Budd lost their lives, a police officer underwent surgery earlier today after he lost both his legs in a traffic accident down south. On Sunday Police Sergeant Mark August was traveling on the Southern Highway when he lost control of his motorcycle near Swasey Bridge in Punta Gorda and was badly injured when he collided into a lamppost. The police officer was transported to the Southern Regional Hospital and then to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he underwent surgery this morning. Police Press Officer, Inspector Fitzroy Yearwood, says that August bled profusely and is asking the public to donate blood.

“A colleague of mine, Sergeant ninety-seven Mark August, presently attached to the Punta Gorda police, he received serious injuries where he lost both legs as a result of a motorcycle collision. Our investigators on the scene believe, from eyewitness account; that he ran into a lamppost somewhere in the area of the Swasey Bridge that caused his serious injuries. He is presently at the KHMH where he should undergo surgery in a little while. We are asking for the assistance of the public in any way possible if they can donate blood because we know that he has lost a lot of blood.”
According to Yearwood, the department is currently in negotiations with the insurance company, Sagicor, to provide support to officers who are relieved from duty for medical reasons.
Disability insurance for our security forces is long overdue.
How can you lose both legs from hitting a lamppost? More details are needed. Did the post fall on him and severed both legs, imagine the speed he was going to create such DISASTER. HOW did the other 2 die? Sorry for your lost PGPD.

Mr. August had bad ways here in PG…a lot of people don’t like him….he ‘s chancey…..he had that coming as he thinks he’s God on a cycle….

Mr August dont worry about what others says .jus trust in god ,god was with him, thats why he didnt lose his life,he was a good cop jus pray cauz bad things can happen to good people and bad people .

Mark August always think he is above the law and better than people. what happen to him is just the starting, but mark august have a few friends because i would give him his gun so he could shot himself.lol. but its not to late

I’ve know Mark for 15 years now; and he is the most strongest, intelligent person i’ve ever none; so to all the haters your negative comments will only make him stronger! He lost both legs, but his intelligence still remains and that; no one can take that away from him!! He has over 40 certificates!! how much do you all have???????
For you so call “mighty god” and “above all” you speak and judge an individual just because you might not be appreciate of the work i did bringing criminals to justice in pg or you yourself might be a criminal if you have nothing to say say nothing or prove your point in a court. i did what i was suppose to do and paid to do which was to prosecute offenders whom i honestly believe you were one of them and God knows that. but if you think otherwise put your money where your mouth is and bring forth any of your pg citizen and look me in the eye and say i have taken advantage of that individual but it you cant make good dont make bad cause you can be next and the punishment might be worst than mine………
