K.H.M.H. boss replies to criticism over supplies
Today K.H.M.H. Chief of Staff Alvaro Rosado responded to reports that the hospital was out of important medical supplies.
Dr. Alvaro Rosado, Chief Executive Officer, K.H.M.H.
“I’ve been here for six years and there’s never been a day when this hospital has not been short of one thing or the other. Nothing is different now. We are short of materials, we are short of pharmaceuticals, and that is normal. We are trying to correct that, as a matter of that tomorrow I expect to get a fairly large consignment of supplies and pharmaceuticals coming in. So the fact that we don’t have a specific item is not a big deal in the bigger scheme of things because we do have substitutes and K.H.M.H. does not only rely on the Ministry of Health for pharmaceuticals, we as a board buy the pharmaceuticals when we need to have them.”
“We have our stock people, they order when we need the things. And it’s not because we have not ordered but because the Central Supplies have not been able to supply. It is not a Karl Heusner isolated incident. We do buy. There has never been a time that anybody has needed any medication that they’ve not gotten.”
According to the C.E.O. in the Ministry of Health, the ordering system has been computerised and should facilitate a more timely supply of medical stocks.
