Thief steals security guard bicycle

Eric Barrow

A convicted burglar who is presently serving a five year prison sentence just got an additional year added to his jail term after he picked up yet another conviction; this time for theft. He is fifty year old Eric Barrow, who was allegedly bold enough to steal a beach cruiser bicycle from a Security Guard at the Belize City Magistrate’s Court while he was there for separate charges on August eighteenth, 2011. The owner of the bike, Joseph Garcia, says he caught Barrow red handed as he rode off on the bike, but the accused man denied the allegations of theft and pleaded not guilty when he was initially charged in 2011. He maintained his innocence throughout the trial, which ended this morning before Magistrate Aretha Ford, who found him guilty and imposed the one year sentence. Barrow has another case pending in court for allegedly stealing telephone cards from a grocery store on Raccoon Street.
