Also in court, was repeat sex offender, forty-three year old Patrick Payne, a Woodpecker Street resident. Payne was found guilty of another count of Aggravated Assault of an Indecent Nature upon a sixteen year old girl. Today, Chief Magistrate Ann Marie Smith sentenced him to three years in prison. Since the allegations arose from an incident in August, Payne had been on remand and by noon, he was found guilty after the minor testified “en camera” about her frightening ordeal. The girl told the court that on the night of August twelfth, 2012, she remembered that she was asleep in her room when she awoke to someone fondling her. She recognized the man who had gained entry to her room. She yelled out for help from her mother, but by the time her mother came to her aid, her attacker, identified as Payne, had already ran out of her room and left the house. In his defense, Payne who was unrepresented, maintained his innocence saying that the girl was telling lies about him. This is Payne’s second conviction for the offense of aggravated assault of an indecent nature. His first conviction was in 2004, and he also spent three years in prison.

Men are locked in the Hattieville Prison whoose sexual urges and desires have no outlet. The denial of sex eventually will lead to animalistic behaviour.
This sexual predator has been found guilty beyond all reasonable doubts. What should be his punishment? Eye for an eye.
Turn him loose in a sound proof room at the Hattieville Prison where seven sex deprieved enraged prison inmates awaits him with a desire to be friendly.
Castrate him when it is all over.

If he had been castrated after he molested his first victim, there would not have been a second victim.

Castration doesn’t work because the man can still get aroused.
I feel that the revival of capital punishment instead would be most effective, especially for situations of this calibre.
Three years???!!! The next time a sexual degenerate is detained I beg the arresting officer (even if you are not a parent) plant a loaf of bread on him and say that he was also stealing the loaf of bread to feed his family. I guarantee he will get more time for stealing a loaf of bread to feed his starving family than he would get for his sexaul depravity.
It´s sad to see the frecuency of sex related offences being commited in Belize, but what saddens me more is is that the justice system is too leiniant on these criminals. Legistators in Belize should work on enforcing stiffer penalties on these criminals.
You Belizeans, How do you expect Mr. Barrow to make money if the criminals are locked up for long periods at a time? as long as your Prime Minister on his way out is an attorney, will will never do anything to improve punishment on crime/criminals as he will need those same criminals to live large,; so don’t expect no new legislations to improve the justice system!!!! the man needs the criminals life the grass needs the sun. So dream on for on for an improved justice system!!!!!
