Central Bank Governor’s house robbed
Crimes involving high profile personalities are on the rise. The details are sketchy but News Five has confirmed that the house of Glen Ysaguirre, the Central Bank Governor was robbed this afternoon. A man under the guise of a deliveryman took a parcel to the governor’s residence on Coney Drive. Once the housekeeper opened the door, he pointed his weapon at the housekeeper and then proceeded to rob the home of assorted items including computers. The incident happened this afternoon and the police were processing the scene up to early this evening. Recently, senior counsel Derek Courtenay was robbed of his vehicle. On September twelfth, Courtenay left his Montero, valued at seventy thousand dollars with the ignition running. While he was closing his gate, someone drove off with his vehicle. And prior to that incident, former Cabinet Secretary Jim Murphy was jacked at gunpoint. Murphy was attacked while closing the gate to his yard in Belmopan. The man held a gun to his head and then drove off in his 2012 Toyota Prado, valued at one hundred and fifty thousand dollars.
A serious crime, and I hope the crook is caught and imprisoned for a long time. It would be too easy to make any variety of sardonic or ironic jokes about this crime and its victim, so I refrain.
Hope no private central bank info was on those computers-now terrorists can buy lots of bank stats and details?
Lessons learnt : all deleveries must be left at entrance of residences and get remote control for gates and garages to avoid exiting vehicles to close gate to same. Belize is a cauldron of hot and cold violence both by officials and the common thugs. Things equal to same things are equal to one another = common thugs. Where is SSB $50 million to purchase BTL? Where is the money?
Well this is what happens when their is no leadership in the country and when criminals see the people in gov. Getting richer and richer while they struggle to eat when they see that ministers and pm are stealing openly they say to themselves well if they could the thief openly why not us to. A corrupt gov. Leads to total corruption this doesn’t surprise me when you have people out of work and cannot feed their family and themselves because this pm and gov. Are stealing the people’s money.

It is slowly coming around to their circle…soon very soon all those up there will start feeling what we have been going through for so long..next it will be ministers and all else if they do not step up and do something about this horrible disease that is affecting Belize.

but lets say the person that are to be robbed tomorrow were you…you would not like it….no one like to be thief in one way or another.. if the steal and we suffer hunger..we do it the right way….

This people, i believe the death penalty is a too easy way. I strictly believe they should work for food. We have lots of bad roads, public spaces that need work to be done. encarcerate them , make them work lifetime for food. chain their feet and make them work all day for food, lifetime
Scary indeed. I now lock the doors all the time when we are home and planning to install cameras by the end of the year. Getting a gun is also not too good an answer because you might well be killed for the gun. Belize has changed so much and yet we are doing so little to combat crime. Where are the leaders when you need them..???
They deserve more than that , they live in mansions and kids don`t have food at school!!!
This may sound cold and uncaring, but the truth is, that untill enough of these high profile people are in the mix of being robbed and heavens forbid killed., the government will do absolutley nothing to stop this crime spree.

Krtdiaz: the leaders are only there when they need your vote and after that they forget you and when you look for help they dont know who you are!!! when it is time for elections they go all the way to your house bt after elections they forget where you live. some Ministers are out there in private places enjoying themselves wth their swthearts while crime is out there striking us the Humble and poor people…
