Nimrod Tillett acquitted of the brutal murder of his lover
The brutal murder of forty-four year old Enrique Castillo in February, 2009 shocked the residents of Orange Walk. Twenty-three year old Nimrod Tillett, who was reportedly Castillo’s lover, turned himself in and was charged for his murder. But after three years on remand, Tillett is a free man. He was acquitted when his confession statement was found not to be admissible in Court. Tillett told the court that he was forced to confess by police officers who brutalized him and according to the judge; the prosecutor could not prove that the statement was given voluntarily. The statement, in which Tillett allegedly admitted that he stabbed Castillo to death, was the only evidence that prosecutor, Christophe Rodriguez, was relying on to seal a conviction since the murder took place inside Castillo’s house and there were no eyewitnesses. Tillett’s attorney, Leo Bradley, made a no case submission, asking the judge to direct the jurors to return a not guilty verdict. The motion was upheld and Tillett was formally acquitted. On February twelfth, 2009, Castillo had a party at his house on the Belize/Corozal Road in Orange Walk Town. His nude body was found on his kitchen floor at around nine-fifteen the following morning when his sister went to visit. His throat had been slashed and he was beaten badly with a blunt instrument.
ANOTHER ADMITTED KILLER WALKS FREE BECAUSE YOUR POLICE LACK INEXPENSIVE VOICE RECORDERS TO PROVE WITHOUT QUESTION WHAT WAS SAID AND UNDER WHAT CIRCUMSTANCES.
Every single policeman in the Jewel could be provided a voice recorder to obtain irrefutable evidence for about $100,000. It would have been worth more than that to have this one killer convicted!
PEOPLE POWER. We need to change GOB top to bottom and start over.
One more murderer outside. I say if this @#%&* kills or do something ilegal AGAIN we should blame and charge Leo. And whoever help for the %#@&%#@ to be out. Hope he gets what he deserves outside. I have nothing againts gays but I hate murderers and worst if they go out free.
Nimrod ? really ? hahaha, now shoot his @$$…
This is unbelieveable!!!! I am outraged at the injustice in this once peaceful country. Until these lowlife criminals are punished for the crimes that they commit, this country and law abiding citizens are DOOMED!!!!
Thath the thing about a Democracy…. The LAW is the LAW…..too bad our procecutors, DPP and LAW enforcement officials are impotent in regards to doing their jobs properly to protect the Belizean people.
Doom we are already, see all that is going in our home. Let’s change all these crooks out of the house PUP AND UDP, a clean start.
@Tashy is right.
Only place you can kill and get away is Belize, nothing strange. The whole world knows this. Nine years of BDF, Don’t kill nobody in my family, i don’t have time to call no police. How many times has this happen. it’s time to change !@#$, police will come and look for me. To hell with the GOB.
