…and even more allegedly swindled by Edward Martinez

Fairweather says that during her last visit to Belize in September, she realized she needed to take legal action against Martinez. After a visit to Belmopan and an attorney, Martinez reportedly found out about her efforts and asked her to back off. But at that time, Fairweather was in the country for a memorial marking one year since her son-in-law passed away.  He was also allegedly scammed by Martinez shortly before his death and that’s the driving force behind Fairweather’s mission to put the accused con artist behind bars. She says she is also speaking on behalf of the other victims because many of them are afraid to come forward.

“I don’t know if you know where he lives by Pen Road extension, he had my daughter and her husband—my son-in-law passed September last year—he had them believing, showing them this property, that this is your house, this is your house. They thought that he started building from scratch, from the foundation. My son-in-law died September last year, you know what Mr. Martinez told me when I went home for his memorial? Dead man tells no tales, after taking six thousand dollars from my son-in-law. My daughter, because of her mother-in-law she has a roof over her head.  The house that he had promised my daughter, you know who own dah house? Dah Mr. Boots Martinez office; dat dah di one weh ih seh dah mi fi my daughter.  After he realize that he can’t come through for these people, he start threatening them about his connections that he has in Belize because “my bredda dah minister”. Threatened that oh memba I know weh pah your husband live, I know weh pah your bredda live, I know weh pah your grand pickney live. Ih start to threaten di people dem, call di people dem and put dem pan three way line, dat oh dis person on the three way claiming to be head of police and tell dehn bout oh, memba my pah have dis position dah Belize. Di amount a threats he did to us that’s why everybody fraid ah him. But I face him whenever I go to Belize because I mek ih know I noh fraid fi yoh.  We can’t get everybody to go at the same time so we want someone to represent us down there and then I’ll be the one to go and represent all the people over here because I have all their information—well, most of them because some of them he has them scared out of their minds with all the threats he made to them. Is I don’t know what’s the next step we have to do but I want, if there is an attorney there in Belize that wants to represent us as a class act to get in touch with you and you get in touch with me because do need somebody to represent us so that we don’t have to go one at a time. We want to do a class act.”

Following the allegations on October fifth by Sylvia Baptist, Martinez told News Five that, “there is no way anyone can speculate that at any given time I have told them that I have properties for sale. If there is any allegation stating that I have told them anything pertaining to such, I will go on record and say that is a lie.” But Fairweather has forwarded to us email correspondences between herself and Martinez, including one that said, “You will see a few pictures I am attaching to this email, they are what is available in Belize, prime affordable real estate (land). The ones with houses on it is simply the professional work that I am capable of delivering if you so choose that any of them is what you want.” The emails also include pictures showing examples of houses he has built and ceiling styles that can be done. On Friday, we’ll speak to another Belizean living abroad who claims to have been victimized by Martinez.

PEOPLE POWER. Hon. Barrow’s GOB is a den of thieves, extending to the ministers’ abnormal families.

But people and communities organizing, striking, and protesting can change a government as we have seen around the world in the last year or two. People power can be a bumpy road for a little while, but in the end a new beginning with the corrupt leaders gone, maybe even locked up, would be worth it.

This reminds me of a place in the Bible where it asks whose report will you believe. I believe the people who are accusing this man of milking people out of money. Martinez, is cut from the same cloth his brohter came from, Boots has a legal license to do his dirty deals, becasue the crazy belizeans gave it to him.
What is going on in this country right now makes me so sick, it is as if no one understands that there is a God who sees all and knows all, and sooner or later you get your just due. How far will this go and when will it end.

  3. Mary says:

The Belizean Diaspora abroad are getting what they deserve. They willfully and collectively financed this Barrow den of thieves into office again. They came in groups to cast their votes for this bunch of liars and thieves and now they cry foul.
