Garbage in, garbage out.” That’s Sedi’s viewpoint on Coalition for Justice

Wilfred “Sedi” Elrington

Last week a new NGO, Belize Coalition for Justice asked for Minister Wilfred “Sedi” Elrington to be removed from the Ministry. When asked to respond, Elrington admitted that he didn’t know much of the group since he has been out of the country quite frequently over the past few months. He said he suspects though that they may be misinformed and that talking to them would be a waste of time.

Wilfred “Sedi” Elrington, Foreign Affairs Minister

“I haven’t heard much about them at all; as a matter of fact, I have been out of the country since the twenty-first of September. And I just got back very recently and I really haven’t been looking at the local news. But I think it is healthy that people talk about matters of national interest. My only caution in respect of that is that when one speaks about issues like that, one must get informed about it. It’s just like with a computer: garbage in; garbage out. So that if you are not informed, you could do a great deal of harm to people who will want to listen to you and then be guided by what you’re saying. That is my only concern, but apart from that I think it’s good that people talk. It’s certainly better than shooting each other. I’m not prepared to talk to people personally who don’t read about it; who know nothing about it. I’ll be wasting my time. But people who have read it and who have concerns and want to discuss it; I am prepared to do that because I know I will not be wasting my time—these are people who are genuinely interested in educating themselves.”

The BCJ was launched last week; they have said that they will not support the referendum.

it is understandable that Mr. Elrington is out of the country a lot but he should also be informing himself with knowing what is happening locally. if he is to represent us properly abroad, he must well know what is happening at home.

  2. Storm says:

    Incredible arrogance.

Not just toward Coalition for Justice, but all of Belize when he says he doesn’t bother with “local news.” THE LOCAL NEWS IS THE NEWS OF BELIZE, THE COUNTRY HE IS SUPPOSED TO BE SERVING. Apparently Belize doesn’t matter to him, he is just too big for us.

Out of his own mouth, Hon. Elrington has convinced me he must be removed from office.

  3. Rod says:

Damm now he di say that all belizeans stupid y di say that all unu cruffy stupid and unu no understand nothing .well mr Elrington that may be so but one thing belizeans understand and that is corruption, incompetence and thief and you are all of the above also where are the people who have been selling passports why is there no one in jail there should be people in Jain for treason including you.

I swear that the more they interview this man, the more I wonder what out Prime Minister is thinking by having him in such a key position. Thanks to our foreign affairs and Immigrations ministers, we have an immeasurable amount of humans being trafficked through Belize, we have known wanted international terrorists holding Belize passports, we have countless Asians with their passports stamped with Belizean visas, we have Guatemala about to ignore our borders permanently, we have Hezbollah and Hamas operatives all over the place doing as they please, and we have our politicians GIVING away our passports which SHOULD BE THE ONE THING WE SHOULD HOLD SACRED. People are getting KILLED every day and we are now completely desensitized and so are our children. People, I am afraid to say it, but we are ALREADY a failed state and we have FAILED our future generation. How comes we have not heard our PM comment or address the nation on ANYTHING recently? This government is transparent alright….what you see is exactly what you are getting.

  5. Bear says:

Wow. Elrington has total contempt for you, me, and every other average Belizean.

I’ll start to pray he goes somewhere and never returns. He is much too great for us.

wow – this is amazing – such arrogance. so if you no read (whatever he wants you to read) then he will not speak with you caz it is waste of time – so I guess maybe 90 if not 99% of our people will not read his document etc… because some can’t read, do not have access to the document, or will not even understand the legal jargon and technical language. How condescending! and he is our leader? he wants others to read yet he does not read about what is going on locally … all this travel abroad is getting to his head. Mein I feel so dishearthened that Sedi is an attorney and political leader, yet not in touch with the reality of the common man! and he cannot blame this arrogance on anyone else…sad!

Heard him say something like imaginary border?
Well he is surely MORE imaginary , our borders are real, and we will defend it by removing his $#!% from selling us to Guatemala !!!
