Gang Suppression Unit sniffs out drugs and catches a peddler
The Gang Suppression Unit was on the hunt over the weekend and they found several quantities of marijuana and a firearm. The first bust was at a house on Giles Street shortly before five o’clock on Friday evening. Twenty-three year old Ronald Joseph Michael Junior was searched and a nine millimeter Jericho brand pistol loaded with four live rounds of ammunition was found in his pants waist. Michael, who is a reputed member of the Victoria Street Bloods gang, was arrested and charged with Kept Firearm and Ammunition without a gun license.
Then on Saturday morning, the GSU officers conducted a search in an empty lot on Nurse Findley Crescent, which is considered a part of the Kraal Road Gang turf. A black plastic bag containing two hundred and forty-eight grams of cannabis was found. No one was apprehended, but the drug is believed to be for a local drug peddler of that area. That search was at nine-thirty and four hours later, in an open lot on Kraal Road, another stash of weed was found. The bag of cannabis weighed in at one hundred and twenty-four grams. Again, there was no one around, but the drug is also believed to be property of known Kraal Road Gang peddlers. At around three thirty-five on Saturday afternoon, GSU moved over to Elston Kerr Street where they saw thirty-three year old George Denfield Young throw away a black plastic. A search of his person revealed nothing incriminating; however, the bag he attempted to dispose of contained sixty-three grams of cannabis. Young, a reputed peddler in the Elston Kerr Street area, was arrested and charged with Drug Trafficking.
Good job GSU. We just need to see more of you to clear the garbage off the streets..
Although the media report does not mention it, this was accomplished with the help of the K9 Unit. Good Boy Law Dawgs!
I am for putting away gang members and especially those involved in bigger crimes…..but 63 grams of cannibas…come on GSU…that is chicken feed. Go after the real criminal….this silly public relation stunt does not fool me.
Hello again GSU, we know you are our only hope in the City. The Minister is like a chicken without head, likewise the senior police officers of the Department. Seems to me the GSU is the only unit that has their head on their shoulder, among all department choas.
What is the Department doing, with all the rest fo the Units and senior officers, what are they doing? What is their plan for the murders and the outrage?
What is the Government doing about all the criminals who are set free by the inadiquate laws of this country?
What is the Minister doing to push for change in the law?
What is the Prime Minister, who by the way is an attorney that knows the loopholes of the laws of Belize, doing?
Why is there no one addressing the country regarding the raise in murder and criminal acts nation wide?
C’mon elected ministers, you were voted to reign and lead, you are paid to think critically and make changes to empower and raise up a nation. When will you be patriotic enough to stand up to crime, enhance the criminal laws and give your people the security they deserve.
Can’t help but comment on what Ixchel said, 63 grams of cannabis equals approximately 15 teaspoons of granulated sugar. That is not chicken feed, I think a chicken eats more than that in a day, is it a chicken that was cought with this weed? No, but maybe by now he has the size of a chicken brain for brains, don’t you think. I personally think, we should target from small crimes, such as these. After all a big theif doesn’t start by jacking the world bank. But instead he starts with the little stuff. So, if weed is illegal, which from the last time I checked it is, then it is a crime. No crime should be left unpunished, no matter how small the crime. It is like saying a man who fundled a child should not be criminalized because c’mon it was only his finger….think about it Ixchel…..
hahahahahah, another fake victory for GSU thugs, they had to come up with a story, the losers of GSU let business people get killed and chase a pack of fake drugs.
hahahahaha GSU thugs , what a pack of losers.
well said Young Gial (Lady), no small crime is to be considered like that, since Crime is a Crime and The Law is impartial The Law is the law.
Good job GSU as you escalate the ladder of dedication and honesty you will continue marking the history of honor in the country, Keep it up!!!!!!
It wasn’t merely the 63 grams of weed — the story also says, “Young, a reputed peddler in the Elston Kerr Street area, was arrested and charged with Drug Trafficking.”
Drug dealers sell to anyone, even your children. Drugs destroy lives. In Asia, dealers are executed, and I can agree with that. They destroy lives randomly, all for a dirty dollar.
Keep it up, GSU! Hit them hard!!!
Uh, I don’t think it is just a story newbie, certainly not a victory, much less fake. It is just a press release of an honest days work done in the field of policing. You must be ignorant to make those false allegations… ” quien le gusta ver cara bonita en cara ahena?”
@Bear: So what do we do with the thieving politicians who destroy thousands of lives by their illegal, immoral examples or models of lifestyles ? Look at the oppression and suppression of the people inasmuch as they can’t express their opinions if Barrow doesn’t want to shut down their TV station, their newspapers, and other media. So what is worse to jail the people because they infect others with their ideas or jail them because they infect them with “WEED” ?Essentially, the question is “What good are laws if there is no justice”? So Bear will you take up your pitch fork to fight for justice in Asia, Israel and Belize ?
Am I the only one that finds this picture with a hand written note shocking. This is why the police department keeps loosing critical evidence because this type of note could easily vanish. This type of evidence needs to be in a database.
Malthus, I would come down just as hard on corrupt politicians. But this story is about drug dealers, and I hate them. My pitchfork is for Belize, not the other places.
Good point, @NY. I didn’t notice it until you pointed it out.
@young gial se escribe asi: A QUIEN LE GUSTA VER HOJOS BONITOS EN CARA AJENA?.
lol, I was trying to remember it, thank you @verymad.
