Caribbean Pride, whose trademark is it? Banks or CGA

Another issue involving Citrus Products of Belize Limited (C.P.B.L.), Banks Holdings of Barbados and the Citrus Growers Association is over the Caribbean Pride Trademark. According to CGA Director, Denzil Jenkins, they recently received evidence that Caribbean Pride had been registered in Jamaica without their knowledge and Banks Holdings C.E.O., Richard Cozier, was confronted about it.

“Caribbean Pride fell in the hands of Banks and we didn’t know anything about it; registered in Jamaica and I asked Mr. Cozier of Banks, who is the C.E.O. of Banks, when it was registered in Jamaica, in whose name was it registered in? Because they were holding back from us the fact that Banks had acquired the trademark. So he finally had to say registered in the name of Banks. Where is the agreement? No agreement. Now, ladies and gentlemen, this is the height—and these are not stupid people. These are not stupid people and because they are not stupid, we have to believe that that kind of collusion is nothing short of corruption. Banks since sold back the trademark to C.P.B.L. or Valley Manufacturing; that is the subsidiary of C.P.B.L. for two dollars.”
