I wasn’t there; friend of murder victim says he wasn’t at the scene
Kevin Gentle and Arden Alex Robinson were both shot inside Robinson’s yard in an unnamed and dead end street somewhere in the vicinity of Curl Thompson Street. Gentle who was shot multiple times did not survive the incident, but Robinson’s injury was not life threatening and he was able to walk out of the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital on Tuesday. A week before that incident, the two men and a friend known as Michael Goff were in the same yard and were busted by the Gang Suppression Unit when seventy-eight grams of marijuana was found. Goff visited News Five today to say that since the drug bust he had not returned to the yard and he was certainly not the third man who was in the yard at the time of the shooting. So far no one has been charged for Saturday’s shooting incident.
And while the killer in that murder is still unknown, this afternoon, thirty-four year old Juan Rubio, who is accused for the stabbing murder of twenty-four year old Karim Peters in Pomona Village, Stann Creek, was arraigned in the Magistrate’s Court. Rubio, a heavy duty operator, appeared before Magistrate Sherigne Rodriguez in Belize City due to unavailability of a magistrate in that jurisdiction. He was remanded until January twenty-third. Peters’ brother allegedly saw when he was fatally stabbed on the eve of Garifuna Settlement Day. Peters was rushed to the Southern Regional Hospital, but succumbed to his injuries while being transported. It is alleged that the two got into a heated argument which led to Rubio pulling out a knife and stabbing Peters once to the upper left side of his chest. The murder weapon has still not been recovered.
Not much of a friend of the murder victim, if this man was there and lies about it. Not much of a man in that case, either.
