While receiving treatment for gunshot, victim’s home ransacked

There was a shooting on Neal’s Penn Road early on Wednesday night. The victims are a man and a woman who were injured as they sat on the sidewalk.  Nineteen year old Leticia Cardinez and twenty two year old Devain Flores were hanging out with friends, including two children, when a man wearing a warm cap headed toward them and opened fire. Cardinez was grazed on her rear while Flores was wounded on his feet. Both were hospitalized and released and believe they were not the intended target. But to add salt to the wounds, while Flores and his family were at the hospital; their house was ransacked. Flores tells News Five he doesn’t know who is responsible.

“Bout after six, seven, I mi di stand up underneath an almond tree di drink wah lee wine with my friend dehn. And we see wah bally di come and dehn bally dehn say bwai unu watch dah man deh, but we put down back fi we head and we noh di pay he know mind because dah one persons we see the walk come. And when I do put down my head I hear pow and I feel the warmness through my foot and I just get up and I run through wah person yard and come back round. When I come back round dah then I get the sense that I get shot ina my two foot. Dah just wounding cause it gone through the lone flesh and come back through the two foot them—the right and left foot—through and through the two of them; dah noh nothing major.”

“Well really I can’t really comment on it. But only certain people mi got key fi my house and only certain people could get into my house. So I really can’t point no finger neither too because I neva deh home.”

Fourteen, nine millimeter Aguila Brand expended shells were retrieved from the area.
