Western Spirit Cycling Team gets support from Bowen & Bowen
While the executive of the Belize Cycling Association held an unsuccessful congress in Santa Elena earlier on Saturday, the homegrown team Western Spirit of Cayo District, hosted an event to unveil their partnership with Bowen & Bowen Ltd. The team, which has become a powerhouse on the national cycling scene, is officially being endorsed by Belikin. Team captain Roger Troyer told News Five that the sponsorship couldn’t have come at a better time.

“This is a big, big plus for the team. Over the years we’ve always been struggling for sponsorship, never had as much as we needed and for this year Belikin stepped and is giving us a very big support for this year. I guess they are the title sponsors of the team now so the team is really the Belikin Western Spirits team and we’re gonna give it a hundred and fifty percent to keep the winning streak going and give you all the best publicity that we can give you.”
David Vasquez, Sales & Marketing Manager, Belize Brewing Co
“One of the things we first recognized was the fact that this Western Spirits team embodies what Cayo is all about in terms of the work ethic of the people up here, the community spirit. This is truly a Cayo team, a team of locally grown guys who have come up and made good for themselves. One of the most important things is always to recognize that this team had a same issue that most teams are faced with, most sporting teams are faced with right now which is finding good support to keep longevity going. And it would have been a travesty if we had the failure of this team because in the past two years the Western Spirits team has been a dominant team and we looked at it as an opportunity. Bowen and Bowen has always been involved in sports in general, not so much in team sponsorship but in sporting events sponsorship but we saw an opportunity to help out where we could with a homegrown team that was in need of support and truly, with the last past cross country champion, national road champion, it would have been a travesty to see this team fold up, so to speak, so we had to do something.”
nice work bowen!
I like the concept of private sponsorship of sports teams. Good for Bowen & Bowen.
Great move Bowen and Bowen. Am not a beer drinker but will make and exception and drink a couple Belikin.
