Visa waiver for Taiwan is not reciprocal

David Wu

We reported earlier this week on an announcement from the government of Taiwan that bearers of Taiwanese passports no longer need a visa to enter Belize. What wasn’t clear was whether the arrangement was reciprocal. Well, News Five posed that question today to Ambassador David Wu of the Republic of China (Taiwan).

David Wu, Ambassador, Republic of China (Taiwan)

“Until now, perhaps many people do not know that for both our two countries that we have visa waiver for diplomatic and official visa already. That’s bi-lateral. However, in the Caribbean and the Central American Regions, all of the countries, they grant the visa waivers to Taiwan; it’s unilateral, not bilateral. But now we are considering how we can reciprocate in Belize. We do not know the answer yet but I think in the near future we can get the answer that we will also reciprocate with Belize for this visa waiver program.”

Foreign Minister, Wilfred Elrington and a delegation are currently on an official visit to Taiwan.

THEY NEVER NEED ANY VISA TO BELIZE, THEY HAVE BELIZE PASSPORTS BEFORE THEY SET FOOT INTO BELIZE!!!
    ANY SHAME HIGH OFFICERS??????????????????
THINK YOU CAN CONTINUE DOING THAT AFTER WE GIVE BACK BELIZE TO THE BRITISH?

  2. Storm says:

I think the impediment for reciprocity with Belize is simple: WE HAVE SOLD TOO MANY PASSPORTS TO INTERNATIONAL CRIMINALS AND FUGITIVES, AND BELIZEAN PASSPORTS AREN’T TRUSTWORTHY ANYMORE.

So, thanks for that, Hon. Hulse, for your crackerjack running of our immigration program. As the credibility of Belizean passports decreases, the hardship on honest Belizeans traveling abroad increases. It’s a natural law.

  3. Ridiculous says:

I wonder how much the ministers collect to approve this one sided deal.

I wonder how much the ministers collect to allow this one sided deal???

Belize is a free for all. How the hell they can cook this one up? Belizeans are not running there anyway but why the heck will we allow them to come this way if they do not reciprocate the gesture.

  6. REAT says:

SOLD OUT ……………………………………………………………………………AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN

  7. Joe says:

The US DHS , has to keep an eye on this, cause all use Belize as a spring board to the USA, and that , dose not look good, on us.
