Could there be some truth to what McAfee said about corruption in the (used to be) jewel? Whose drug money paid off whom? Wake up people!

  2. Storm says:

No, I’m not surprised, just very, very sad. Someone landed, directed, and unloaded the plane, and these defendants were the only ones there — who else did it, the Invisible Man? Who paid the big fees for their tricky drug lawyers? Anybody else in the Jewel caught in such close proximity to even a stick of weed would be convicted — who was calling the shots in this case?

I believe this was too big a case to take a chance on losing, and DPP should have asked the US for [and it no doubt would have received] all kinds of professional and technical assistance. This case was the people of Belize against a cartel. How high in GOB does cartel influence go? Which branches of government are corrupted, and to what degree? We need to know, and probably only outside help can get the evidence we need as a nation.

it’s totally not surprising, it’s 2012 and belize haven’t made any improvement since their independence this just prove more to everyone that the court system and leaders in belize is full of !@#$, everyone is on a criminal payroll and there for personal greed and not to uplift the nation. i hope you other critics forgive me for writing this but I’m glad I’m not living in a !@#$ hole country like belize where criminals and killers get famous getaway with the crimes committed, I was once proud of my birth country and use to boast about belize to everyone, now I’m the most shameful of belize being in the spot light for all the wrong reason.

  4. Louisville,Ky says:

No not at all. Given the current trend, I would have been shocked and surprised if they were found guilty. For those who think differently; ah got swing bridge fu sell yuh!

  5. Al says:

Get ready for the next step, they will demand their jobs back, and guess what they will be hired back and with compensation for the lost wages. Take my word for it there would have been bigger fishes in this pond if these men were found guilty. The columbian suppliers are drinking tequila, smoking cigars and laughing at the Belizean government and already planning who will pay for them loosing their money. It is not over yet, don;t be surprise if you start seeing them hanging from trees, head cut off or other awful things occuring. All you have to do is look at the way they treat their own people in Mexico, The pilot of the plane probably had his day with his maker already.

  7. Gone fishing says:

Best example so far proving the criminal justice system in Belize is a farce.

It is a corrupted stupid circus that is irrelevant. Save money and get rid of it.

But it is useful to go after tourists for a shakedown on a stick of weed, or setting someone up by planting some bullets in their house, or rubber stamping when the government steals the phone or electric company.

After all these fat cat prosecutors, judges and clerks need a paycheck. Or is it the jury is too stupid, or payed off, or threatened to make the obvious conclusions?

Off to the next joke case. Got to wonder if Belize is going to be a country in five years.

  8. Belizean Pride says:

it doesn’t surprise me but angers me to see how flawed our DDP is and takes a case of this magnitude this with a verdict.

  9. Southern says:

This further cemented the fact that our criminal justice system is useless with incompetent people and corrupted high government officials.

  10. Elgin Martinez says:

Any and everything is possible in the Jewel.

  11. Skill9 says:

Belize Justice system is full of $$$$!!!! Yeah man, me say so.
I use to think that Mr. Dean Barrow would be a great leader/great PM, and I supported him, but that was a mistake on my part.

They always pressuring people for little incidents in which they break a stupid law, but all of the drug lords they ALWAYS walk away free, and laugh at the BZ GOV’T.

As for the GOB……….dem full a !@@$ cause I was told that it is people in high society who pulled some strings and allow everyone to walk free.

Our country is going backwards………..when US Government start tighten up pon we here in BZ due to drug smuggling, please Unu better don’t complain.

    Corruption, I say!!!

  12. Retired CEO says:

I am not surprised at all. Imagine the possibilities, perhaps, McAfee was somewhat involved in all of this. Could this be one of the reason why the GOB want him dead?

  13. Nimbo says:

I would have been surprised if we would even have gone to the next level.

Corruption has its tentacles all over- police, government, judiciary, all of them. Only God can save Belize.

  14. Belizean says:

Mein really though at least 2. But none……
    Mein only in belize……
They are going to get there job back with all comppensation. The belizean way…..
    Got to love this country…
It like marrage. For better or worse… She is my country….
