Youths convicted of stealing bicycle

Evan Bruhier

A fifteen year old minor and twenty-three year old Evan Bruhier were convicted this evening of the crime of robbery.   The duo is accused of stealing a beach cruiser bicycle from Oscar Dimas, and robbing him of his cell phone.  After they were found guilty, Bruhier and the minor were remanded into custody until December seventeenth by Magistrate Adolph Lucas Junior. The minor was dispatched to the Belize Youth Hostel while Bruhier was transported to the Belize Central Prison. There was overwhelming evidence since Dimas, a bus conductor, identified both defendants as the persons who robbed him on June twenty-first.  Dimas was riding his bicycle on Glenn Street in Belize City when he was approached by the duo.   Bruhier, he said, punched him on the mouth and then took his bike and cell phone.   Dimas told the court that he had played basketball with the minor and that they lived in the same area.  Dimas was also certain of the identity of Bruhier.  Bruhier in his defense asked the court for leniency saying his girlfriend is pregnant while the minor remained silent.

The pregnant girlfriend will probably be better off without him around, and the child will certainly be better off not being raised by a robber. I normally think the 2 parent family is the ideal, but the rule has an exception where one of the parents is a criminal.

Prayers that the expected child will be raised into a successful life.
