Police Officer lost life in motorcycle accident
The four year old child was not the only person who died tragically on the highway. A police officer lost his life after receiving a blowout on his motorcycle tire in the Corozal District on Friday. The thirty-four year old Police Constable was injured on the head. The police could not determine whether or not Oscar Escalante was wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.
Raphael Martinez, Police Press Officer
“On the seventh of December at 4:47 p.m., Police visited the Progresso/Chunox Road in Corozal District where they saw thirty-four year old Oscar Escalante, Police Constable attached to the Progresso Police Sub-Formation, lying on the right side of the feeder road with apparent head injuries and in an unconscious state. His Police issued motorcycle was seen couple feet away from him with minor damages to the mirrors and with a front wheel blow out. Oscar Escalante was transported to the Corozal Community Hospital and later to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment. Police investigation continues.”
RIP, Constable. Prayers for your soul and family.
so sad to hear and he just had a beautiful baby girl. My sincere sympathies to his family.
I feel terrible for the officer and his family, but I’m curious whether he was wearing a helmet.
The human body can survive a lot of damage in an accident, but the head MUST be protected.
