Police Corporal to be transferred to Burrell Boom Police Station

Sharmane Young

Since the pressure from the National Trade Union Congress of Belize and the public has increased about the transfer of Corporal Sharmane Young, following an incident with a tourist on San Pedro, the Ministry of National Security has finally issued a commented. The Ministry sent a press release late this evening and it won’t have Corporal Young transferred back to Ambergris Caye. The release says that the transfer letter was dated November twenty-seventh, and Young asked for an extension that was granted until December fifteenth. The release says, “As a consequence, the Ministry has undertaken to remedy the situation by seeking the agreement of the Commissioner of Police and Corporal Young for her posting to the Ladyville Sub-formation with responsibility for the Burrell Boom Police Station.” The Ministry hopes that the new posting in Burrell Boom will be an end to the issue. The officer commanding the San Pedro Police Formation, Assistant Superintendent Vienne Robinson will also be transferred in January 2013.

She should be sent to maskal village…. Some of these police are very arrogant and act above the law. Belize depends on tourists and mistreating them is as dumb as some of these law enforcement people we call police. Most of them are not even educated and the training they receive reflects on the way they act. It was a wise move to get rid of her from the island. There should be a criteria for police in certain areas. Put her on foot patrol in the crime infested area of old Belize
