George Street gangster charged for Murder by St. Ignatius School

Marvin Nunez was gunned down execution style in front of Saint Ignatius Primary School on Friday. The cold blooded murder happened just after one o’clock when school children were heading back into their classrooms and a funeral was taking place at the church.  Today, twenty year old Henry Cornejo Jr., an alleged associate of the George Street Gang, was arraigned for the murder of Nunez. Nunez was shot as many as four times to the head and chest. He was rushed to the K.H.M.H. where he succumbed to his injuries. A father of two girls ages six and eight, Nunez had gone to the school to drop off his two step children. The mother of the children was inside the compound and as he waited outside, a lone gunman opened fire on him.

Both Nunez and his alleged killer have been before the courts. In 2011 Nunez was charged jointly with Keith Lewis for the attempted murder of Frank Fitzgerald Sinclaire Jr., which occurred in the wee hours of July seventeenth on McKay Boulevard in the St. Martin’s de Porres area of Belize City. A Preliminary Inquiry is still pending in that case to determine if there is sufficient evidence to proceed to the Supreme Court.  Nunez and Lewis were on bail when Nunez was killed last Friday. As to Cornejo, in June of this year, he was acquitted of murder of Gilbert Olivera. Olivera, was an epileptic patient, who was to testify as a crown witness in a murder case but was killed on Dean Street as he headed home.  Cornejo was set free because the main witnesses could not be located.

Maybe justice has caught up with Cornejo. The sooner dead, the better.

Why was he out on bail, and why was trial so long delayed for his earlier attempt to murder? He’s on my list of 100 gangsters who need extermination so the Jewel can be peaceful and secure again.

  3. Rod says:

Hang all murderers when will this useless gov. Get the message that they are being looked t as a big joke at least get one thing right. Hand all murderers do your job barrow or you fraid you would have have to hang half your own ministers.

  4. Al says:

Each time one of these thugs is given a get out of jail free card, the courts give them a license to kill again. I hope this time he is put away forever and please do not loose this case on some kind of technicality, if he in fact is guilty sentence him to life, full life no possibility of parole. This case is one that warrants the death penaty, this man killed a helpless person before just to eliminate a witness. This person does not deserve any pity, rid the streets of him forever.

Storm where can I go to review this list? How can we nominate people to this list?

  6. anti viral says:

  7. ceo says:

Justice delayed is justice denied! They will all dies the way they live!

  8. Storm says:

@alley cat, my belief is that there are about 100 stone violent criminals in the Jewel who should simply be exterminated — with or without due process, I don’t care. I don’t even care if the government does the job, I would be happy with vigilantes hanging them from lampposts. These vermin all have multiple offenses, probably being responsible for 75% of the murders in the nation.

And we all know who most of the scum are, they’re notorious. Every Belizean knows the criminals in their neighborhood.

So maybe someone will set up a website where Belizeans who feel like I do can go to make their nominations for Belize’s “most wanted.” It could be a good place to share information among people who want to fix everything that is wrong in the Jewel.

    Stay tuned.
