Indian couple bought fake Belize visas in South America
An Indian couple was busted at the Phillip Goldson International Airport on Wednesday morning when they arrived in the country using forged Belize Visas that were issued in South America. Twenty-five year old Chetankumar Mohanbhai Patel and his wife Jagrutiben Babubhai Patel flew into the PGIA shortly before ten o’clock on a Taca flight from El Salvador. While processing their documents immigration officials observed several inconsistencies in the features of the Belizean visa foils. The couple was subsequently detained while an investigating team was summoned to the airport. Further inspection proved that they were not official visas issued by the Immigration and Nationality Department since there were noticeable discrepancies on the sheets which do not correspond with an authentic document. According to the investigating officers, the telltale signs that gave away the phony visas were the departmental seals which seemed to have been printed along with the visa, instead of being impressed onto it. During interrogation the Patels revealed that the fraudulent documents were purchased for five hundred U.S. dollars each in Bolivia, where they resided illegally over the past three months. 
A background check was also conducted at the department’s headquarters in Belmopan and it was confirmed that the visa numbers had been issued to a Salvadoran and an Indian national. The visa issued to Chetankumar Patel was in fact granted to David Stanley Valladarez Nunez, of El Salvador, on September thirteenth. Jagrubiten’s visa, on the other hand, was issued to Jatinder Jit Singh, an Indian national, two days earlier. Chetankumar and Jagrubiten Patel have been charged for the offence of attempting to use a permit not issued by lawful authority.
In court today, the couple appeared unrepresented before Magistrate Adolph Lucas Jr. where they both pleaded guilty. They were fined two thousand dollars each which they were able to meet; but the husband and wife duo remains in custody tonight, following an application by the Immigration and Nationality Department to have them extradited to India.
I’m shocked. Is this the dawn of a new era, when Belize actually tries to make its visas and passports mean something?

Belize has becoma a laughing stock in the world. Every crook in the world will try to use this country as a hiding place. I would be ashamed if were Barrow. The country that I am suppose to be a leader over is seen to be so pathetic that every evil sees it as a hiding heaven. Every day McAfee looks like he has a point in not turning himself into these corrupt government and law enforcement people. The few honest people are overshadowed by the dishonest ones and cannot come forward because of fear for their jobs.

I agree with you Al. Belize is used as a stepping stone to get to America because becoming it is easy to get Belizean citizenship. You saw what happened before and during the election how overnight people become citizens of Belize. The prime minister and his cronies should be ashamed of themselve selling the country for a few dollars while they also line their pockets. How long with the money last? Belize need to revise their immigration law. Have anyone noticed how the the demographics have changed in Belize in the last 10 years? Soon there will be no jobs left for the Kriols, Mayans, and the Garifuna because the government rather give opportunities to foreigners who arrived the country yesterday or today. It is time that native Belizeans realigned themselves and fight for their civil rights before it is too late. I have met Nigerians and Asians who claim to be Belizeans knowing full well that they bought their citizenships. I hope the U.S. consulate stop giving visa’s to them for falsifying the identity. hah

@ AL & WOW… It seems to me neither of you understood a word that came out of the news report, except that two people were actually caught with fake Belizean visas.

Most of these individuals… Usually the first 4 or 5 ,putting in their stupid comments …. Are entertaining themselves. They contribute nothing positive to Belize or to the readers. People like these hold the country back. … And there is no shortage of these idiots.

On my recent flight from brasil (GRU airport) to Miami, I noticed 15 odd Indians waiting around to catch a flight for belieze. Upon conversing with them they had NO clue where the country they were visiting was or infact any other info a tourist must have. While I was waiting for my flight ( my wait time was about 4 hours, a flight from Dubai landed and guess what another 18 Indians showed up. The brasilian police federal officers came to verify their documents and all had a genuine visa issued to them from the consulate of belieze in New Delhi. One of the Indian openly said that beleize visa is granted by the officers working in the consulate for 2000usd. Rest he did not have to say I co be red the dots. My thoughts are that why the beleize authorities can’t connect the dots. Beleize government is weakening our US borders by becoming the “new silk route” of human trafficking. Can’t anyone else see it??? Let me know if anyone wants to take any action. I was able to tape my conversations with Indian traveller on my iPhone where he tells his tale. Shame on the office of the consulate of belieze especially the visa section; you know that you are not even loyal to your own country as you are risking your nation to unknown elements of social and national threat! Shame on you!!!
