United Belizeans Incorporated brings goodies for Dangriga/PG children

United Belizeans Incorporated (UBI) is a Los Angeles based charity organization that raises funds to assist Belizeans at home and abroad. In 2011, it started a Christmas initiative to collect toys and other goodies to bring for needy kids. Children’s homes in the Belize District benefitted from that first toy drive, but UBI is back and will be spreading the joy in the southern districts this year. The organization secretary, Marzuke Lewis, told News Five that they collected even more gifts this time around.

“I’m here with some friends. We’re spreading the Christmas cheer by brining toys and food and backpacks for the kids in the PG and Dangriga area.”

“So when will this be taking place?”
Marzuke Lewis
“On Thursday, December twentieth we go down to Dangriga and spread the cheer.”
Delahnie Bain
“So about how many kids are you hoping to reach?”
Marzuke Lewis
“About two thousand. Roughly about two thousand kids will receive toys and some Christmas cheer.”
Delahnie Bain
“So tell us a bit about how you all collect these toys and so on that you bring.”
Marzuke Lewis
“During the year, my friends and I we have a committee and we gather the toys and so on by fundraiser. We do dominoes tournaments; we go to the casinos and sell food and just a host of other things.”
Delahnie Bain
“And so how long have you been doing this?”
Marzuke Lewis
“Last year was our first venture and we did eleven barrels and this year we’re pleased to do eighteen barrels with some toys and food and goodies for the kids. We just wanted to give back.”
Delahnie Bain
“And so when you go down to PG and Dangriga and so on, how do you find the kids? Or do you just have something where they can come and collect it?”
Marzuke Lewis
“Well, we’re hoping to go down to the community center and then just issue out the things from there. It’s my very first time so I haven’t really been out in PG to see the reception but I look forward to going down there and just give a smile to all the kids.”
The organization also has plans to help senior citizens in future initiatives.

know thats what i am talking about , Merry christmas to belize and i am praying and thanking god for everybody in the world right know , we need it , and also praying and thanking the members of ubi and every other charity groupp that is doing good deeds all over the world in giving back to there community.
