1st time offender spared jail time for Robbery conviction; fined $3,000

Evan Bruhier

A cop’s son who was convicted on December sixth, was today spared from jail time after he was imposed a non-custodial sentence for a robbery charge. Twenty-three year old Evan Bruhier along with a fifteen year old minor was found guilty of robbing, twenty-two year old Oscar Dimas of his bicycle and cell phone on June twenty-first.  Today at mitigation, Bruhier begged the court for leniency, saying he is the sole provider for his family. Magistrate Adolph Lucas Junior imposed a fine of three thousand dollars which he has until March twenty-ninth, 2013 to pay.  The minor was not sentenced today since his mother was unable to be present in court.   During the trial Dimas told the court that he was coming from the direction of the Queen Square Market when as he reached Glenn Street, the minor, who he knew prior to the incident and Bruhier approached him. Bruhier, he said, punched him in his mouth and then took away his bicycle and cell phone.

See what I mean with the police? They cant handle there own kid. Leave his @&& in jail let him learn the hard way. If I was his dad I will wear a paper bag over my head for the rest of my life.

An insulting sentence. First off, the robber does NOT provide for his family — HE SIMPLY ROBS PEOPLE!

He should be in prison with no favor to his father. Are police families now above the criminal law, like mayors, DPMs, and the rest of public officials and their friends and families?
