Khalid Al Turk to be extradited to U.S.A.?

Khaled Jamil El Turk

Lebanese businessman Khaled Jamil El Turk, wanted by U.S. authorities for conspiring to import pseudo ephedrine, appeared before Chief Magistrate Anne Marie Smith this morning, after being on remand at the Belize Central Prison since mid-October.  In court, a bundle of documents, presented as evidence requesting El Turk’s extradition to the United States, was tendered by attorney Magali Perdomo.  Perdomo called upon Tasha Young, Foreign Services Officer, responsible for the United States Desk, to testify under oath to receiving the formal request from representatives of the U.S. Embassy on October eighteenth.  According to Young, after receiving the letter from two employees of the embassy, she forwarded the mail to the Attorney General’s Office.  A warrant for El Turk’s arrest was found at the scene of Aziz Mohammed Dib’s murder which occurred inside a Lebanese restaurant in the Farmers Market area on October twenty-third.  While there is no link between the warrant and the homicide, El Turk has been in custody since October eighteenth.  Khaled Jamil El Turk is represented by Senior Counsel Edwin Flowers.  He joins the Seawell brothers, as well as Rhett Fuller, who are also wanted by U.S. authorities. The matter has been adjourned until February seventh, 2013.

  1. Marie says:

We should not give US anyone if they dont give us Mcasshole

  2. Storm says:

Let’s send him and as many other of our criminals as possible to the States, where they are able to get convictions and keep criminals out of circulation.

  3. carlos pacheco says:

how comes the belize government isnt requesting an extradition of mcffee. eye 4 eye tooth 4 tooth. test 2 see if the us fulfill its obligations .

  4. Buju says:

This is the problem with Belize!

We wanted that idiot john mcafee and he fled to the US and we didnt’t get any sort of explaination

Now they want this person along with Rhett Fuller, the Seawell boys and countless others.

We should just ignore then and go about our business the same way they did to us.

I knew from the onset that the Guatemalans would not have sent mcafee back here to Belize because of our ongoing feud. That was just a way of showing us that we are the only one compromising.

They will do what they want and we cant say or do anything.

To hell with guatemala and to hell with america!

  5. Elgin Martinez says:

Stop the double standard Belize why havn’t Mcafee been extradited to Belize?

  6. John T says:

@storm. maybe you are not aware but Belizeans are repeatedly caught in the US for serious crimes that include large quantities of drugs, firearms, gang violence and others and instead of serving time, they are deported to Belize. That is why we have this wave of crime because it is being sent back to us and the rest of central america. US State Department at its best. On the other hand while this one is going rest assure that the US will not sent the a@#!$ Mcafee to Belize.

  7. Elgin Martinez says:

If i was Khaled i would have my Attorney request bail after which i would flee to Guatemala seek asylum and hopefully get deported to my country of origin.

  8. Storm says:

Everyone complains that the US hasn’t returned McAfee back to us — which I also would like to see. But there’s a really good legal reason: WE HAVEN’T ASKED FOR HIM, WE HAVEN’T CHARGED HIM.

Maybe for $ome my$teriou$ rea$on our police have no interest in McAfee. Until he is CHARGED with a crime, the extradition treaty does not apply.

It’s different with the Seawells and Fuller, they have been indicted and a courtroom and trial is waiting for them all in the States.

We can’t honestly compare apples with oranges.

  9. ceo says:

The better question is why the PM have not made a formal request for McAfee’s return to face questioning?

  10. Bush Man says:

Maybe the PM did not request for McAffee return because he is afraid of him spilling the bean on his corrupt gov.

  11. Gone fishing says:

If you want McAfee for extradition, then you got to indict him first for felony murder. Read the treaty.
Embarrassing the GOB is not sufficient for extradition. Besides everyone knows the government is a joke. What are the results on the bullet tests? If they match, then indict.

Buju you will someday regret using those words to hell with America. This guy might be a terrorist and too many of them running to Belize as a shelter. Let me tell you this, I live in the U.S. for most of my life and people from the Middle East are not to be trusted! They would blow up themself inside a crowded market or on a crowded bus just to make a point, now you think about that. As far as McAffe is concern, it shows the incompetence of the Belize Police for letting this IDIOT escape. Belizean Gang Banger or any so call gang should be executed on the spot for a better Belize! they are making a bad name for the country.

  13. orlando says:

People from the Middle East think nothing much about women. They have no rights, schooling or any type of education. It’s like speak when you are spoken to, but not before. They are a bunch of terrorist who don’t give a damn about nobody else but themself and you want to shelter this IDIOT? Send him back and let the chip fall wherever. As far as McAffe is concern, this just show the incompetence of the Belize Police for letting him escape. The last time I ck it’s not a big country, but he manage to hide and make a fool of the country.
