In the name of Finnegan, Easy Money for Easy Glenn
On Tuesday night we reported on a scam involving Goldburn “Easy Glenn” Adolphus and James Swaso, both high profile U.D.P. operatives. Senior Minister Michael Finnegan blew their cover following reports that they had been impersonating him to swindle money from unsuspecting business persons. As the story was being aired on Tuesday night, the duo attempted to strike again. Fifty-four dollars worth of fried chicken was placed on order allegedly by Swaso at Chon Saan Palace in Belize City in the name of the Minister. The restaurant owner, Lee Mark, who had seen the news, alerted the minister and police were on the lookout. Swaso smelled the rat and did not turn up to collect the food. But this morning they ran out of luck as both Easy Glenn and Swaso were detained in Orange Walk by the police. Both will be charged in the Belmopan Magistrate Court because the offence for which they were being sought on Tuesday relates to an attempt to con the owner of Special Effects, a Belmopan store. The business owner contacted Finnegan to inquire whether the request for a financial contribution was legit. Both managed to evade the cops by jumping out of a taxi before they got to a police checkpoint but the law caught up with them in Orange Walk earlier today. According to Finnegan, since the scam was exposed in the news on Tuesday, he has received hundreds of calls from persons who had been approached for cash in the Minister’s name. One known victim is Belize Waste Control who gave them more than two thousand dollars in cash.
Big thief-how stupid-thought he woudnt be caught? always talking !@#$ all over Belize and the radio and at end of the day, common ex convict. When they wanted him to testify in a murder case years ago about a hand -he was scared. He knows who he can bully and when cornered-runs like a !@#$%.
If it’s not a crime for elected officials to solicit cash bribes — I mean, “favors” — from businesses like this, it should be.
We need a law that require ALL donations to public officials to be listed IN PUBLIC, like on a government website. We need to know who has bought and paid for our officials, and what their price is.
Let’s all give Easy Glen a break. After all, he was only practicing what Finnegan does so well. Why did the business people that got scammed become such easy targets? Finnegan had hit them up before.
The culprit here is low life Finnegan. A born hustler. Finnegan’s hustling go all the way back to the days of Dean Lindo and his Beacon newspaper, all the way back to the days of David and Michael Estephan. He shanked them all. Time and time again.
Hustling and scamming is as natural as breathing for old Finnegan.
give me lee breda Easy wah break, he jus di do weh Finny teach him, ask Finny how much businesses he hussle fu ham and turkey for his Christmas party. Finny dah wah hussler from Bowen days. when tief tief frah tief Gawd laaf.
Can we at least give McAfee some credit for what he was saying about government corruption and shaking him down for money. Could he have been set up? Just keeping an open mind. Look at all the garbage that is going on now with these two shaking down businesses and all the stuff that is happening on San Pedro, pretty strange stuff.
asking for ham and turkey for a chrismas diner for people in need is not the problem. The problem is how its done. there should be a legit organization, duly registered as none profit that legally solicit business for such donation and allow such business to legally claim that donation on their taxes, that would allow for proper documentation and keep the process transparent. Calling a business owner and asking for some help is fine, as long as its done through the proper channels and that business owner does not expect any special favors for doing so.
Finny no like competition. de bway mek them move before he could do it LOL!
Welcome back, Uncle Benji. You’re in good form today, and 100% correct.
If there would be none of this kind of business going on no one would be able to pose as the minister.
Easy Glen may have been a corrier for the minister in the past and knows the drill so he now decided to play the game for his own benefit.
This apparently is the modus operandi and the “Contributors” know the drill and quickly handed over some cash! Sad!
Each person running for office should post his or her financial worth every election and should be remove from office for any irregularities.
