Ladyville bus conductor convicted for Harm

Alton Fidel Flores

A bus conductor from Ladyville was convicted today by Magistrate Adolph Lucas for harming a female friend. The charge against forty-three year old Alton Fidel Flores, also known as “Spaceman” followed an incident in the wee hours of April twenty-first when the victim had asked him for a ride to her daughter’s house after a night out. But instead, the woman says he took her to the B.T.L. Park and made sexual advances towards her. She testified that she tried to call the police, but Flores grabbed her and they began to struggle. She managed to get out of the vehicle and sought help from a police booth near the Princess Hotel while Flores fled the area. In his defense, Flores claims that he was never alone with the woman and that they were in the company of Elvin Chiac, who appeared in court to testify that the assault never happened. According to Flores, she fabricated the story out of anger because he refused to wait with her until five a.m. so she could catch a bus. He allegedly abandoned her while she used the bathroom at the park. He also told the court that the woman hurt her hand while she was banging on his window after he locked the doors, preventing her from coming inside. But Magistrate Lucas did not believe that version of the events, especially since there were major discrepancies in Flores and Chiac’s testimonies regarding the route they drove after leaving the victim at the park. The first time offender was found guilty of Harm, but was spared from going to jail. Magistrate Lucas imposed a six month suspended sentence and if he is arrested during that time, he will be fined a thousand dollars to be paid immediately or sent to jail.

He was lucky to get a lenient sentence and a second chance. I hope he’s smart enough to take advantage of it. We have enough young people ruining their lives with stupidity and impulsiveness, we don’t need another, especially one lucky enough to have a gainful job.
