Mayhem inside detention cell at magistrate’s Court
There was mayhem inside the Magistrate’s Court detention area this morning and a BERT ambulance had to be called to the scene after a fight broke out between prison inmates and police officers. It happened early this morning when the Kolbe Correctional Facility bus arrived in the area transporting as many as sixty-eight prisoners charged with murder, rape, robbery and other crimes who were scheduled to appear for indictment before the Supreme Court. According to reports, when the prisoners were being escorted back from the Supreme Court to the detention block, they attempted to speak to relatives gathered outside and that’s when things got testy. Ronlee Petillo, on remand for murder, was told he could not speak to anyone and was rushed inside the cellblock area. Things then escalated and the escorting officers were attacked by some of the prisoners. Reinforcements in the form of ten additional Police officers were deployed and the situation was quickly contained. It is not known at this time whether the prisoners involved will face additional charges.

Beat them all and lock them up longer-they have no respect for the court, police , the country or each other. Let them learn
Too bad the police were so restrained. Nobody would have shed a tear if some of the violent inmates had been put down.
It should be a crime to communicate with prisoners while they are being transported. Relatives who try to communicate with prisoners should be arrested.
Even this this gov, can’t get right damm .
So you mean to tell me they were not hand-cuffed? How much more bungling can we endure from this Police department?
Why do I get the impression that all the intelligent people in the Jewel anymore are the criminals?
Oh Boy……….
This culture of lawlessness must stop; arrest the relatives who attempt to communicate with the prisoners; The police know what to do behind the prison walls.
