Sports only please; new rules for old MCC
The use of the MCC Grounds for events other than football came under fire last year when Telemedia was authorized to utilize the grounds for a concert on December seventeenth. F.F.B. President, Ruperto Vicente, along with other sports enthusiasts warned that the pitch would have been damaged. Vicente also wrote to the National Sports Council asking them not to hold the Digicel anniversary event, but the concert proceeded as planned and, as predicted, there was considerable damage to the playing field. The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports is finally taking heed. In a press release it states that based on the feedback from the sporting and wider community and after consultation with Cabinet, it has come to the decision that MCC stadium will no longer be used for public functions other than sporting events. It went further on to state that G.O.B. will be identifying funds to upgrade the facility which Telemedia had undertaken to do at the time of the protest.

Finally they come to their senses. After many years of dividing our country our politicians need to understand how their actions have brought us to the mess we now find ourselves in. Investing in sports is a huge investment in the restoration of our national pride, unity and love for our country. Now that we are faced with an upcoming referendum to decide whether to let the ICJ rule on the Guatemalan claim of our territory we should be able to appreciate how important national pride, national unity and love of country are to us.
Good idea.
We have several other centers designed for other entertainment, so let’s leave the sports fields to the athletes.
Good Move!
We do not have a FIFA football field and the one we have instead of taking care of it we trample the grass and mess it up.
