Should Mark King be removed?
The hot button issue last week was about salary adjustments for teachers and other public officers. We asked if our viewers thought that government could find the money to provide the adjustments. An overwhelming seventy-four percent voted yes, while twenty-six percent said no.
Turning to tonight’s question: Instead of a three month suspension, should Mark King be removed as a Minister of State? he should be removed and if found that he too pulled his gun, then he should also be jailed. He is not about the law. The PM should set an example to the public that no one is above the law
Our leaders should be paragons of virtue, not thuggish drunks. Throw the rascal out!
He should resign. But that won’t happen. This has been a longs standing behaviour pattern of UDP operatives. Saldivar, King, Barrow, & Faber have always embraced intimidation and yes, violence, albeit in the name of legitimate protest. This is an integral part of the DNA of the UDP. One of these days it will send the country into an irrevocable tailspin as those on the receiving end strike back.
Civil Society is to blame. In a civilized country like the USA and the UK, he would have done the honourable thing. In a banana republic like ours, he is sent into temporary exile till this blows over. We have really reached the heights of mediocrity when we elect losers like these to represent and embarrass us nationally and internationally. Shame on us!
I think it’s too early to ask if Mark King should be removed. Remember we are all innocent until proven guilty. Let’s get the full details first. He’ll have his day in court and then based on that verdict we can make a decision. Obviously the PM believes that the situation was grave enough to warrant a suspension, However I’m hesitant to jump on the PM’s lynch mob since he and his cabinet have proven that they have a tendency to make knee jerk decisions.
Mark King should not only be removed as minister of state. He should be removed from the House of Representatives. WE vote for representatives not rogue ministers.
GOB has no fear of accountability
Hot and spicy news that all!
we all get excited about today’s news. It is about time for you all to understand that this will be a scene in which the Pm will make GOB appear to be responsible and concerned; lets wait and see; nothing will come out of all this;
GOB representatives have no fear of accountability and that is the fact. and not far behind is the POLICE
Yes he must be removed no questions asked, his actions are not only appalling, but also detrimental to Belize in the world’s eyes. Imagine the media coverage of an official Minister of Belize in a public brawl where shooting was involved against police that enforce the laws of Belize. Shame on Mr. King and his actions will be a big black eye for Belize.
Yes, most definately he MUST be removed as Minister of State. His actions were uncalled for, appalling, and a big black eye for the country of Belize. Imagine Mark King an elected Minister of Belize involved in a situation like this, doesn’t look good at all. Many people are saying that Mark King will walk free with no charges, deep down inside hope it doesn’t happen. No matta who u, you must pay if you break the law.
Churches and every right-thinking Belizean should get behind a recall movement to fire King. If he had any decency, he would resign and save us that trouble.
