U.D.P. Sunday convention brings changes to party
With Faber leaving the post, the chairmanship is up for grabs. Roosevelt Blades and Alberto August are throwing in their hat. Blades, a stalwart supporter and a former senator of his party is from the north of the country and he has aligned himself with Faber. They both travelled the country in a bid to convince delegates that their pairing held the best vision for the party. Blades also shared his hopes for the outcome at the Andres Campos Civic Center in Corozal Town.
Roosevelt Blades, Contender, U.D.P. Chairman
“I am from Corozal Town—born and raised in Corozal. I have been a member of the Corozal Bay executive from 1990 and before that I had been involved in politics from a young boy. My skills; I have been actively involved mostly recently as the campaign manager for Corozal Bay Division. We won two general elections; in 2008 and in 2012. I was also very helpful in the elections of the town councils. You know in Corozal we have a track record now that we’ve won three consecutive municipal elections which is something very monumental for Corozal.”
Jose Sanchez
“And on Sunday, do you have any idea what sort of numbers you expect? Have you fully made the rounds across the country?”
Roosevelt Blades
“Yes as a matter of fact, I have made the rounds all over the country along with our able party chairman. We have been traveling the entire country together; so I believe that our numbers may just be the same.”
News Five spoke to his opponent Alberto August, in the interest of fairness and balance, but he was not available to speak since he was tied up at a meeting.
Another idiot in gov. I really have to laugh at the make up of this udp gov.
