Human smuggling ring of Salvadorans unraveling
Police and immigration departments in the west and Belize City are further investigating what is believed to be a human smuggling ring and tonight and one Orange Walk resident is under questioning by the Ladyville police. A white van with Orange Walk license plates C-O-4-4-3-1 transporting about fifteen Salvadoran nationals was intercepted at the police checkpoint near the Burrell Boom junction. The van with Orange Walk license plates is registered to Mathew Williams, a highly connected Orange Walk businessman, who News Five understands was picked up by Orange Walk police and is currently detained for questioning at the Ladyville Police Station. The illegal passengers, believed to have been picked up from the west were purportedly making their way to the northern border. But their attempt was foiled when police shot out the tires to the van and captured five Salvadorans.
Those five—four adults and one minor—were processed in the Belize City Magistrate’s court on Tuesday and will spend a year in prison after they were unable to meet the fine imposed by Magistrate Adolph Lucas. Ten others did manage to evade the cops. And by late Tuesday evening, five women, three adults and two minors were found by immigration officers in an abandoned house in the Los Lagos Community, a short distance from where the van was intercepted. This morning, they were shuttled to the Magistrate’s Court where Salvadoran domestics; eighteen year old Yessenia Gonzalez, nineteen year old Mirian Guevara and twenty-four Maribel Guevara appeared before Senior Magistrate Sharon Frazer and pleaded guilty to the charge of Illegal Entry. The two minors were placed in the care of Human Services. Hours earlier, in Georgeville, Cayo, San Ignacio police and Immigration officers, in a joint patrol were involved in a chase which involved illegal immigrants. Police lost track of the vehicle and when they caught up with it, there were no passengers. The driver, Kenneth Moody, however, have presented himself to the authorities.
How come no blacks are ever caught in Belize their are hundreds and hundreds of Nigerians Jamaicans Haitians and other Africans who are living in Belize and none of them are ever deported why why ask yourself why ill tell you why this pm is prejudice big time so unu wake up Spanish remember who to vote for next election.
I am flabbergasted; I can’t believe what I see and I am hearing!! A year in jail for illegal entry into Belize? Put the illegal entrants across the border but don’t spend a dime to maintain them in prison – not for a day and certainly not for a year. What kind of logic is this? Is it the same logic as burning and destroying the logwood evidence by Minister Alamina or is it the kind that populates the Hattieville prison system designed to enrich government officials and the Administrators of the prison system? Do you believe that illegal Belizeans in USA should be put in jail for many years like how we operate in Belize? Let’s have some civilized answers. Belize needs all its money and resources to benefit poor Belizeans.
Rod first of all I believe you are a racist deep in your heart. Second there are no Spanish in Belize because not one of you come from Spain, they are the only real Spanish so all you Northerners that are calling yourselves Spanish need to research your origin and get it correct. Rod you need prayers.
Really? You throw them back the’ll walk right back again, lock them up they think twice in returning. This is a million dollars enterprise ( Human Smuggling )it wont stop we need to simply make it harder for the criminals.
Williams has already been charged for crimes related to human trafficking more than a year ago, let’s have him tried and if convicted, PUT IN PRISON! He’s obviously deeply involved in smuggling illegals as a business, and it’s time to bring his criminal career to a screeching halt.
I think there should be a mandatory prison sentence of maybe 5 years for each illegal that a person smuggles, and it should apply to everyone involved in the business: driver, vehicle owner, and the man who collects the money.
i taught these females would replace the ones that were illegally working at night clubs etc.
I AGREE WITH ROD LOTS OF ILLEGAL BLACKS
At Rod, why would you even make a statement like that. To tell you the truth that statement says a lot about who you are Rod. It is amazing how people are always making everything a race issue. Belizean are made up of all the colours of the rainbow. That is what makes us so beautiful.
