2 shot on Levy Slusher Street

After a few days of relative peace on the streets, there was a mid afternoon shooting in the city which landed two men to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. Cecil Hinds, Moises Delfin and a third person were at a wooden house on Levy Slusher Street in the Jane Usher Boulevard area when a lone gunman pounced on them. Hinds, was the first to be targeted and shot to the right shoulder and hand. The gunman then turned to Delfin who was inside the house. He was shot to the face and hand. But a third person, Hinds’ brother, who was under the elevated house woke up staring down the barrel of the gun. The gun snapped and Hinds and his brother ran into the nearby swamp evading the attacker who fled the scene. News Five was first on scene and spoke to one of the victims, who wished not to appear on camera. He told us of the frightening experience.

“At about after one, I was lying down under that wooden structure there and between sleep and wake, I saw a lone gunman come and fire one shot but my brother back was behind the cement pillar but he get shot in the shoulder and when I sih ih look fuh crank again, ih crank; den I pick up and brake in the bushes and mi bredah went in the other side ah the neighbors; And afterwards I hear a couple more shots and then I sih and then I hear somebody bawl out.”

“Why would anyone want to fire shots at you guys; to kill you?”

“Well I noh got no reason why. Cause every day we dih ya; from last week we dih ya. Last week from Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday until todeh.”

“My brother is strong enough; he only get shot ina ih should so he could manage but I’m worrying about the Hispanic guy who  get shot because he get shot and blood dih down deh. I think he get shot in the house and jump down and mussi try fi run and dehn shot ahn again.”

“Yea because the first time I’m being shot at ah; I noh know the real reason why anybody shoot me and way deh and me noh gat noh beef with nobody. I noh wah noh problem with nobody.”

Hinds and Delfin remain in a stable condition at the K.H.M.H. .
