Family of 4 loses home in fire

A family of four lost their house and belongings over the weekend when a mid-afternoon fire gutted the building. Pamela Francis and her three children were at their house on Central American Boulevard when the fire started. While they managed to escape unhurt, the wooden structure and all its items inside were lost in the inferno. Firefighters responded to the scene minutes after and put out the blaze before it consumed another wooden structure in the same yard. Operations Officer at the National Fire Service, Benisford Matura, says that investigations are still ongoing to determine what could have started the fire.

“We got a call here at headquarters at twelve-twenty-one to be exact of a fire on Central American Boulevard just across from Traders. We immediately dispatched both appliances. Upon arrival, we found a twenty-four by sixteen plycem structure fully engulfed in flames. We got into operations and extinguished the fire. There was a two story wooden structure approximately six feet next to it and that got a bit scorched but we managed to save the upper portion. The upper portion got scorched and the sidings.”

The house and its items were not insured

Sad for their loss, but happy no person was injured or killed. That’s much to be thankful for.
