No southern charm, couples take disputes to court
Two couples in the south are heading to the courts to settle their domestic disputes. Forty-three year old cook, Irene Arzu, of Punta Gorda Town reported to police that on Sunday night at ten thirty, she was physically assaulted by her common-law husband, Ivan Jones. Jones, she claimed, slapped her several times on the face, took cash from her purse and then left their house. According to Arzu, when Jones returned home, he uttered the following words “ I wah still catch you and kill u”. But there is another side to that story because Jones also made a report to police. He claims that on Sunday night Arzu assaulted him when he arrived home after socializing at a bar. It is Arzu, he claims, who started an argument and threw a chemical substance into his left eye. On Monday, police arrested and charged Arzu for the crime of Wounding, Harm and Aggravated Assault. Also in the south, a twenty-nine year old Guatemalan female of San Lucas Village reported to police that on Sunday her husband, thirty-two year old Pablo Saki Jr kicked her in the face and stomach and attempted to assault her with a machete when he arrived home intoxicated. She managed to escape and went to report the matter to the Alcalde and while there, Saki Jr showed up, pulled her by the hand and threatened her. Police have arrested and charged him for Aggravated Assault, Harm, Common Assault and Threatening Words.
Common plots in these sad stories: too much alcohol and lousy relationships. Life is too short to live like that. Better to live alone in peace, and be ready and available when a good partner comes along.
