National female softball team wins bronze
While Ruta Maya is just getting off, the Belize National Women’s Softball Team returns to the jewel this Friday. The team isn’t coming home empty-handed; it’s bringing a bronze medal from the tenth Central American Games in Costa Rica. In the second semi-final game Belize lost to Guatemala two to nil. The losing pitcher was Francine Hoare. And in the third and final game, El Salvador defeated Belize by the score of fourteen to four. The losing pitcher was Kenreen Gillett who had relief from Lisa Jones. To get to the bronze, Belize defeated Costa Rica and Nicaragua earlier in the competition.

Welcome back and congratulations. I have all the admiration in the world for the athletes who put it all on the line in these tournaments, and practice good sportsmanship, win, lose, or draw.
They are great role models for the other young women of the Jewel.
Good job my belizean women. You represent well! Another success story. 🙂
