Monkey dies after being beaten by 4 third form students
A black howler monkey was allegedly savagely beaten by four third form students of the Belize High School of Agriculture in southern Orange Walk has not survived the attack. After being stabilized at a clinic in Belize City last week, the monkey was transferred to a rehabilitation facility run by the Forest Department in Corozal. The news tonight is that the monkey died from its injuries over the weekend and the Forest Department, which has taken charge of the case, continues to investigate to ascertain who is responsible. The Department made it clear from the onset that those responsible will be criminally charged. In a release today, it reiterated that message, stating that it does not take the incident lightly and will be laying charges against the offenders. The release calls the incident appalling and says it will not be tolerated.

If a teacher was involved as an inciter or director of the crime, he should be jailed, too.
And how long will this investigation take? hope the information does not get lost and ALL responsible should be brought to justice..
Lock them away think what they will do to their wife’s later in life. Totally disgusting blatant cruelty makes them no better than the animal they tortured.
Charges elevated from aggravated assault to murder.
People, please consider:
“The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”

The long arm of karma will reach all who played a role in this not excluding those who watched in silent approval by saying/doing nothing in protest. It is all too common. Belize will only evolve when we change our relationship with all beings. If only we could see that this ignorance is the very cause of our insanity. Students in the schoolyard: think with your own mind and know you earn a small victory for a creature who has no voice when you reject the crowd mentality! Take heart and support the efforts of the Forestry Dept., Belize Bird Rescue, Monkey Bay, Crooked Tree W. S. and Belize’s Humane Societies.
Jail time will teach them a lesson that the they did not learn in school.
WAT EVER. LIKE IF THE ANIMALS ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN PEOPLE, JAIL THEM FOR KILLING A ANIMAL AND LET THEM GO FREE FOR KILLING YOUR SON.
KRAZY JUSTICE.
