Human trafficking and alleged Salvadoran/Guatemalan grandmothers
The details are just unravelling regarding the Salvadoran national who was traveling with several minors, hoping that they would reach the United States using fraudulent documents. On March tenth, Irma Hilda Alas Azmitia came on a Tropic Air flight form Flores, Peten with two children, a ten year old boy and an eight year old girl. Azmitia claimed to be the grandmother of the children and offered notarized letters of authority to travel with them and she presented her reservation to stay at the Global Village Hotel. The group was given one week permission to stay in Belize. Two days after the arrival of Irma Azmitia, on March twelfth another group with a sixty five year old woman, Maria Guadalupe Cruz de Carranza, and two children: a thirteen and one fifteen came to Belize under similar circumstances. She is also a Salvadoran matriarch claiming to be a relative with permission to take the children from Flores Petén to Belize. They checked into the Global Village Hotel in Ladyville. Officers became alert when because of the similarity in the two cases, and the same hotel references, officers returned to Global Village and discovered the first group had checked out. This second group was sent back to Peten on the Tropic Air’s return flight. However, on March eighteenth, Azmitia was found with five children and the group presented Guatemalan passports, not the Salvadoran passports they used to gain entry to Belize. Azmitia’s passport was later recovered at the Siesta Inn at mile two on the Philip Goldson Highway. So the alleged grandmother gained three more youths to her service while absconding from the law. And even though two women were busted under the same circumstances, Azmitia’s story was accepted in court without verification of Interpol. Earlier today, Azmitia appeared in court before Magistrate Adolph Lucas to answer to five counts of Assisting Another Person to Remain in Belize by Attempting to Use a Falsified Passport and five counts of Unlawful Possession of a Document. She was unable to be charged for human trafficking as there was insufficient evidence to prove it. For all ten counts the total fine amounted to fifteen thousand five hundred dollars or serve seven years and one month in prison. A removal order was also granted; Azmitia will be deported to El Salvador if she is able to pay the fine.
Only the Spanish always get catch how bout the hundreds of illegal Africans Haitians Jamaicans none is ever caught much less deported racism in reverse.
Rod, my concern is for these children that could wind up as sex slaves. Even if these children make their way to the US, who knows what their living conditions will be. We are not protecting our future. This woman needs to be put in prison, if she is legitimate why did she need so many passports.
I would hope that these children were not up for sale to the cartel, to be used as drug runners. This woman needs to be brought to the attention of the US CIA, FBI and Secret Service, she is involved in something much bigger than what we know today.
I bet no one took the children alone and talk to them. Separating them from her and having a woman talk to them might have shed light on the truth of what was going on.
Rod the CONTRADICTORIAN
I don’t know who Rod is but it seems Rod have some serious mental problems and someone really need to find out who he is. He is the kind of person that eventually when something bad happens and they find his home they find all kinds of sick evidence. I cannot believe anyone could be as racist as Rod but then again THIS IS BELIZE!!! Rod you need some medical help, please seek it out.
@ Rod, you remind me of this quote from the movie Full Metal Jacket “It looks to me like the best part of you ran down the crack of your mama’s a$$ and ended up as a brown stain on the mattress” – Gunnery Sergeant Hartman. The worst thing about people like you rod the racist is that you hate the person you see in the mirror so much that you project that hate onto others and blame them for the hate you have for yourself. The hate you have within has consumed you so fully that you have no more room inside for intellectual thought and reason. I can oppose your views every day and it will still not change the angry little primate that you have become and my opposition to your views will only lend credence to your stupidity which I find at the very least sad and pitiful. My human conciseness forces me to feel mercy and compassion for the mentally challenged thus from this day forth I will no longer be cruel and unmerciful towards a lesser life form such as yourself rod the racist for only you know the heavy burden of ignorance and self-hate that you bear.
@ Al I agree with you 100% that there are questions that needs to be asked for the good of the children, for a world filled with adults that stands to destroy the innocence of a child through illicit gain is a world that I would not want to live in. We all are responsible for the welfare of our children for they are the legacy of all of us when we are gone.
How much time, effort & money would it take to verify stories with other countries or thru Interpol?
Rod, it is “Spanish” children who are being victimized here — doesn’t that upset you? And they are being victimized by a “Spanish” criminal. How can you defend someone who is trying to enslave children, regardless of the race?
We all need to look deeper than skin color to make moral judgments — there are good and bad people of every race, and if skin color doesn’t matter to God, it shouldn’t matter to us.
I think DPP maybe jumped the gun letting this woman off with a fine only, when she obviously is engaged in something that deserves prison. And they should have checked with Interpol; she will just victimize and traffic some more children to pay her fine. She should be rotting in Hattieville.
If for sex slave, in America they would earn more than at home.
How much they get paid for sex at home?
