Akeem accused of firing shots at minor

The jewel has become the transit point for drugs and illegal arms as well as a landing strip for drug planes. In a recent article in “Por Esto” of Quintana Roo, a shipment of arms consisting of nine rifles, twenty-six magazines and seven hundred and eighty-seven thousand rounds of ammunition was seized from a criminal group in Tulum. The article states that it is believed that arsenal may have reached Mexico via the Rio Hondo River and transported to Tulum with the help of members of the Mexican military.

What does this story have to do with the headline?

Nevertheless, the UN has a special subcommittee, called the “1540 sub-committee”, to give all kinds of support to countries trying to stop weapons smuggling. I wonder if our 6 UN staff members have approached that subcommittee for assistance in stopping weapons smuggling through the Jewel? I have read several east Caribbean Caricom countries are getting help from it, why not us?
