Teen charged with murder
A Belize City teenager has seen the courtroom one too many times this week. Eighteen year old Akeem Augustine who only just appeared in court on Thursday, for the charges of Attempted Murder, Conspiracy to Commit Murder and Aggravated Assault upon minors, was today slapped with charges of the murder of Ardon Belgrave and the attempted murder of Christopher Gillett. No plea was taken and Augustine was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until May twenty-eight 2013. On Tuesday, twenty-seven year old Ardon Belgrave was gunned down as he stood under a tree with co-workers on Caesar Ridge Road. Gillett, who was being chased by a man later identified as Augustine, ran into their midst for safety but Augustine continued chasing him and when he could not see him, he allegedly open fire at the group. Belgrave fell to the ground but the gunman finished the job by shooting him multiple times at close range.
This young man was hell bent on a murderous journey. What could make a child so angry that he just walk the street and shoot and kill people. He needs to be charged as an adult and given the same sentence as an adult. This violence is insane, yet the UDP was more jubilant this week over the Espats coming into their fold, while people are dying in the streets.
People start crying for a change in your country, your voice is important.
Well said, Al.
This MAN tried to kill 5 random people in less than 24 hours. His sentence should be obvious: hang until he is dead, dead, dead. No mercy for killers in the Jewel.
PM Barrow & Co. have been in bed with the murderers since the beginning. They need to be swept out, and held to account with their gunmen. Until then, I hope BDF, GSU, and the rest of the police will hunt all the gunmen until they squeal for their lives. The people cheer when they see gangsters being laid to rest.
