Gospel artist establishes a Belize chapter of her Baby Girls Club
Christian music has its own following and a growing one at that. And even if you are not a strong follower of gospel music, you may be very aware of the name Nicole C. Mullen. Mullen is internationally renowned and she is on a week-long stay in Belize, establishing a chapter of her Baby Girls Club to help young females, ages six and up, to become active while connecting with God. Mullen stopped by our studio on Wednesday and shared some of her message, and what she wants to achieve, with us.
Nicole Mullen, Gospel Artist
“This is our third trip to Belize and we really feel like the lord was leading us here to establish baby girls club. We have one in Franklin, Tennessee and we get girls together from different walks of life from ages six and up is what we do back at home and we dance, we sing, we talk. Karen Brockington will be doing it here; she’ll be staying here on the ground and she’s gonna teach drumming to the girls. We memorize scriptures, we talk about life; we talk about the scriptures and so we came and we fell in love with the place, we fell in love with the people; we felt like the Lord was drawing us back here and establish. For one you have to set the example by doing it yourself, that is what I found. And sometimes they might look at you like your crazy but the more you are around them, the more that they see you are investing in their lives and that you really wanna hear what they have to say; that you really do care about their progress and you care about what they are really going through. Eventually they begin to listen to you and they want to imitate what you’re doing and so it is very important that you are doing the right things ourselves, we as leaders. And then we give them new and creative ways to worship; we have a “Let’s Dance” video series that’s coming out; it’s Christian dance instructional series and so we teach dance to different songs and so that will be one of the things that kids will be doing.”
Mullen held a dance session with a glimpse into her new Christian workout video, at the Destiny’s House in Belmopan earlier today. The Baby Girls Club will be based in Belmopan.
I pray that this worthwhile program catches on and give young girls something to look forward to doing and staying out of trouble and refrain my getting pregnant. This could be a great self esteem
builder for young girls.
Heaven knows we need more divine influence her in the Jewel to reverse some bad social trends, and I’m a huge fan of Gospel music — I hope this Baby Girls Club can realize some positive results here!
