Charged with drug trafficking
Three Belize City men, on pretrial detention for separate charges, were arraigned in the Magistrate’s Court today for joint possession of marijuana. Twenty-four year old Orel Leslie, on remand for the murder of former Belize Defense Force soldier James Noralez, and forty-one year old Floyd Anthony, who is behind bars for drug trafficking, appeared before Magistrate Dale Cayetano where they were read the charges. Their cellmate, Emmanuel Westby, also on remand for murder, will appear in court on Wednesday where he will be charged for the same offence. On Saturday, police conducted a search of their cell where they discovered various quantities of marijuana. In court, Leslie pleaded not guilty to three charges of drug trafficking, while Anthony pleaded guilty only to possession of the least amount of weed, which he said was found in his area of the cell. Both men were denied bail.
hmmm i wonder how the drugs got into the cells with the inmates…..CEO now is the time to do your proper investigation cause there is no way the drugs just appears in the cell just like that….Your officers are veeeeeeeeeeeery corrupted to allow drugs to be floeing inside the prison….Someone got paid and big bucks is circulating an\moung your employees.
Drugs came into the cell during vistation time or the officer brought it and delivered it to the individuals, end of investigation. The next ? is how much time will be granted to both for posession of drugs behind bars eventhough they are already serving time & if Corrections ofcr is involved, give him tme or pay a fine
Kolbe has failed us — our prison is a cesspool of crime and corruption.
Kick them out, and put BDF in charge until GOB can hire some experienced prison warden from UK or somewhere to do the job right.
Why not have surveillance cameras all over the prison? Nobody has a right of privacy there, and we can identify the criminal-guards.
Quis custodiet ipsos custodes? [Who will guard the guards themselves?]
But wait. They were denied bail. Can you get bail if you are serving time already?
