P.U.P. government would say no to Belize on Guatemala passport

The National Executive of the People’s United Party met this morning. It took a decision in respect of the new Guatemalan passports which are causing a firestorm among Belizeans.  As it stands, the Guatemalan government is proposing to print four million passports over the next ten years. But what is irking Belizeans is that the new documents will include a map which shows Belize as a part of Guatemalan territory.  At its meeting today, the P.U.P. took the position that in the future when in government, it will not allow any person holding the offensive Guatemalan passport to enter Belize and it urges the government to do the same. The P.U.P. says if Guatemala persists with its printing, then Belize should boycott the meeting of the Organization of American States (O.A.S.) to be held in Guatemala later this year. And thirdly, that Belize should seek the support of friendly countries especially CARICOM to also boycott the general assembly in solidarity with Belize. Two weeks ago the P.U.P. also rejected the Guatemalan proposals to amend the Referendum Act or to proceed to hold the October sixth referendum, on its own.

OH Guatemalan Wants a WAR in their hands and the Belizean people will fight fir what belongs to us. There is now way the land of Belize ever belonged to the Guatemalans. Boycott them to all terms: people entering the country and all imports and exports good to the country. Show them that we mean business and STAND UP AS A WHOLE COUNTRY ( protect the land)

I am awed their is not more comments in response to this, how can another gov’t include something on OFFICIAL DOC that is not true, this is why we have Palestinians & Israelies still
fighting for GAZA STRIP and Syrians leaving their own country. I say to Belizeans & the Minister of State, get some BALLS and REFUSE any PROPOSITIONS made to you that will involve the giving away of LAND to Guatemala. How dare you come into my house and tell me how to run it.

  5. Frank Smith says:

Belize and Guat need to settle this dispute Oct 2013 to move on, plain and simple.

  6. SHAK says:

I see a costly and inconveniencing border-entry tit for tat btw Bze and Guate looming on the horizon. This just the same, I can’t wait for the day when, in the spirit of mutual retaliation, Bze’s esteemed emissary to that our neighboring country is denied re-entry to post. …………… On a more serious note, though, the PUP’s no. 1 decision is good enough: we don’t recognize the Guat passport featuring the ill-drawn map. After that there’s no need to ratchet up the ante. No need to throw out the very baby by not attending the OAS meet. No need to go whine to Caricom on a point that is minor in the larger scheme of things.

PEOPLE, MY BELIZEAN BREDDAS AND SISTAS, THERE IS NO DISPUTE TO SETTLE!!!
BELIZE DAH FI WE AND GUATEMALA HAVE TO RESPECT THAT, WE NO THE GIVE THEM NOT EVEN PIECE OF WE !@#$!!! ALL IS FOR US EVERY SINGLE INCH OF THIS COUNTRY IS OURS

WE NEED LEADERS THAT WILL STAND FOR THIS COUNTRY TO DEATH.

BUT I STILL BELIEVE GUATAMALA DAH WAN CHANCEY COUTRY, THEY FEEL THEY CAN BULLY ANYBODY, WELL HEAR THIS GUATEMALA YOU BACK OFF, LEAVE US ALONE, BELIZE DAH FI AND IF YOU CONTINUE WITH YOUR SIMPLENSS YOU WHEN GET WHAT YOU THE LOOK FOR OK!!!!!

This is the type of stance the sitting government needs to take! They need to lead or get the heck out the way. This is a Belizean problem that is serious and should not be taken lightly. This not a PUP or UDP thing so let’s stand in soledarity against it.

  9. Mel says:

It is true, not an inch but they are occupying more than that. I can recall my grandmother telling me that she remembered when they had to run and hide in caves when ‘chapines’ said they were coming in. I live next to the western border and willing to die like a man than live like a coward. Moreover, they come by the bus load to be educated at our school. We need to make a stand people!

  10. Belizean says:

I would greatly encourage the current Government to take the same stance as displayed and expressed by the PUP. We can also take example of how Saudi Arabia is treating a border problem(not that I think we can directly compare). They are simply building a very large long fence on the Yemen side because of illegal crossings!! Of course they are the oil monsters..However, even if your mind was set this way, we would have an end to these silly problems..We should ignore Guatemala..We should simply block them, that is all!

  11. Bear says:

I’m happy to see PUP take an official pro-Belizean position on this.

I’m just shocked that the current UDP government can’t see the light, and refuse entry to all Guatemalans as long as their government claims our land.

  12. Juan Carlos says:

Belize is a part of Guatemalan territory

  13. FRank Lemus says:

Belize is not part of Guatemala and it will never be! Am from El Salvador I grew up in Belize and i will take a stand for what became my country too, which I will not share with guatemalans! Belizeans do the same!
