Aviation fuel found near Crooked Tree; reports of plane attempting to land confirmed

On Wednesday, reports circulated that a plane had been heard circling somewhere behind Crooked Tree, but we could get no official confirmation and our investigations came up empty-handed. But today, there is official word from the Belize Police Department, of a significant find of what is believed to be aviation fuel. Following the reports of the plane, members of the Ladyville Police along with a team from the B.D.F. Special Assignment Group visited an area known as back-landing in the Orange Walk district, which allegedly borders Crooked Tree in the Belize District. They found no plane or evidence that a plane had landed, but about three hundred feet from an old airstrip which was destroyed years ago, they did find nine blue drums containing suspected aviation fuel and sixteen empty plastic gallon containers.  Nobody was found in the area and the containers were labeled as found property. From what we understand, the hidden fuel could have been stashed in the bushes to be used for other landings.

We need a land-to-air missile system that would shoot down any plane intrusions in our territories especially in the ‘hot’ areas where drug related activities are very active.

  2. Nation of Izscam says:

obviously these drug dealers did not pay the corruption officers, otherwise they would have landed at Goldson International Airport, given visas and some rum.

BMNJ>We need a government that works and citizens who demand it.

  3. erectus maximus says:

We need police and defense forces who are willing to spent the days and nights it takes for the people who own the goods to come and claim them and arrest and prosecute the perpetrators instead of loading up the goods and high tailing it out of there. These people are practically in their hands for pete’s sake and they let them slip away by not applying good policing principals. Who’s in charge of these clowns? Oh yeah, almost forgot.

  4. Storm says:

Which government ministers do you suspect are involved in this business?

I am sure that GOB will agree to pay the traffickers for their fuel, as well as any lost profits from drug shipments that were interrupted, just as Barrow paid Gapi’s thieves, I mean family and friends, huge profits on the land they stole in Placencia. What a neat way to steal from the public treasury — a scam only lawyers could devise!

  5. Carlos says:

The ones that were recently released from the Drug Plane Bust in the South might have started again!!! PM needs to be more hard on these crimes, it is really sad to hear that people are in jail for years just for an ounce of Mariguana, and these people were busted in the South with thousands of Kilos and are already free!!! Where is Justice???????

  6. Belizean Pride says:

what about the planes that keep flying over Spanish lookout area at night? it’s something we can suspect of illicit since flying at around 10pm or 11pm is kind of questioning. but bet the gov is keeping the blind eye just like the recent investigation of the plane that landed and refueled in spanish lookout is forgotten already by the people and part by the media of not keeping the public updated as what came out of it.

  7. Eye in the Sky says:

Maybe the plane came to pick up some Gapi Rosewood.

  8. Great Idea says:
