Electrocuted by power washer
Orange Walk police are investigating the sudden death of an eighteen year old Mennonite laborer of Blue Creek Village in Orange Walk Town. Clayton Rempel was electrocuted on Monday afternoon around two-thirty as he was operating an electrical power wash machine. He was cleaning this tractor at his work site in the Linda Vista Area of Blue Creek Village when a surge of power led to the electrocution. Some ten minutes later, Rempel was found unconscious by his employer, forty-eight year old Frank Klassen, who transported him via plane from Blue Creek to Belize City and rushed him to the Belize Medical Associates. But just after three p.m., Rempel was pronounced dead by Doctor Fernando Cuellar. Foul play is not suspected.
So very tragic. May God be their comfort at this difficult time.
Why do you have to say Mennonite? if this happends to a black man then you will say ‘investigating the death of a …..?
First off, condolences to the man’s family, and may he rest in peace. It’s a very sad accident.
I generally do not like government to be to large, I think it tries to do to much already, and should focus on core, necessary services only. But public safety is one of those services, and I am starting to think GOB should create an office for occupational safety, to inspect businesses and make sure they are operating with safe erquipment in a safe manner.
That thought comes not only from this tragedy [could an inspection of the pressure washer have revealed a worn and dangerous electrical wire, for example?], but also from the death just last week, in the same village, of a young boy buried under 15 tons of rice. From the descriptions of the rice storage and auger in that case, it was a tragedy waiting to happen, where children could easily climb in to play inside what was in fact a death trap.
Maybe some officers could be added to fire stations to conduct safety inspections of every business and all machinery used in business on an annual basis.
Storm, I agree with you more need to be done, a good inspection of all businesses operating with help not only save lives but will increase production…well said!!!!!
@ WHAT are you Rod the Racist reformed? Have you changed your ways and stop hating black people and realized that you are on the wrong side??? If you are not Rod the Racist then you two were probably separated at birth as you my friend made the KKK seem like boy scouts. You are a loser and the worst kind, for you pour salt in wounds. This young man’s family is in mourning and you chose to kick them while they are down? You need to be locked up like Rod the Racist so you can only sling sh@t at people when they get too close to your cage. @ Storm agree with you whole heartedly as we operate without concern and in some regards without impunity; but we need to demand that the people that we entrust with our well being actually does their jobs and stop being corrupted by bribes and so unconcerned for their paid jobs and actually do the peoples work in the interest of their safety and well being.
