Who let the dog out? Brian Castillo

A Lord’s Bank resident has been slapped with quite an unusual charge; one that is not often reported in our newscast. Keeping an Unmuzzled Ferocious Dog at large is the charge that Brian Castillo is facing after two of his purebred dogs mauled his neighbor’s pit bull to death. Around eleven a.m. on Sunday, forty-eight year old Sandra Williams was called home from work because her four year old pit bull was reportedly being attacked by Castillo’s two dogs, who had escaped from his fenced yard two lots away. Prince, who was chained inside her yard, was injured to the head, legs and other parts of the body and died moments after the attack.  But when we went investigating, News Five found out that this is not the first victim of the ferocious dogs and that it is not the first time that the dogs have escaped.

Sandra Williams, Owner of Dead Dog

Sandra Williams

“I was at work and my neighbor called and told me that the two dogs were attacking my dog. I had the dog from when he was a puppy; I paid three hundred and fifty dollars for him as a puppy and I was trying to come from work because I was on holiday for two weeks. So I just got back to work on Sunday.  My neighbor called again and he said that it looks like he is dead already. I came and I saw my dog and it was so heart-wrenching for me. I loved that dog. I have him for a long time. He is a big dog, but he is a playful dog. He is a nice dog.”

“When you got here, what did you see?”

Sandra Williams

“I saw his leg was torn up, his head…they got his head and his foot was all bitten up. And he was tied so he couldn’t defend himself.  My dog was behind the house there. I keep him there because I know children pass and they are mischievous and I don’t want children to stone him. I had where a child kept on stoning the dog and I saw that any time the child pass; he would get mad and park at him. And I don’t want him to get aggressive to kids, so I kept him in the back for that reason. I don’t want nobody to hurt him.”

Duane Moody

“I understand that this is not the first time that this is happening in this area; that other dogs have been killed by these dogs.”

Sandra Williams

“Yeah. They have other dogs that have been killed. You had a stray that used to come around here. He tore his stomach out. I reported it. The reason why I reported it is not because of the other dogs or anything and I’m not trying to get back at that person. But for me, small children are around here and I have a small boy that if he was at home or my niece was at home and that dog had attacked—even me—our first response would have run to go and help him. And those two dogs could have attacked us; leave the dog and attacked us. Him coming out all the time often, it might just happen so. So all I want is to put their dog up properly.”

Castillo appeared in Magistrate’s Court today and after pleading not guilty to the charge, he was put on bail of one thousand dollars. He is due back in court on June fourth.

I’m a pet owner and animal lover, but vicious dogs have no place in civilization. The dogs should have been caught and put down when they attacked an animal the first time.

I hope the dog owner is punished enough to make it hurt and set an example.

So sorry for the cruel loss of Ms. Williams’ pet.

  2. Seletar says:

Mr. Castillo should be a man and take responsibility for what his dogs did. To lie and deny is shameful and cowardly.

  3. UNIBAM DESTROYER says:
