Twenty-nine year old Ebelio Majil is currently in critical condition at the Western Regional Hospital following a stabbing incident in the village of Santa Familia in Cayo. According to his sister, Esther Padilla, Majil was held down by his attackers and stabbed twice to the abdomen; puncturing his intestines and gallbladder.

“Kevin Humes and Kent Moh stabbed him and Erin Ortega and Hubert Puc held him down and they stabbed him. And also together with David Ortega and Danny Rivera, Melvin Moh, Pedro Pat and Neftaly Majil; they beat him up while he was on the ground. They kicked him, threw stones, they were beating him with everything to him. Doctors say he is in critical condition; nobody can see him. The stabs he get in his intestines and the gallbladder. He bleed a lot; lot of blood he bleed.”
Majil along with four other persons were walking in front of the cemetery here on the main road when they were attacked by a group of some fifteen plus youths from the village. The group claims to be members of Calle Trece, better known as the 13 Street Gang. Seventeen year old Milton Moh was stabbed a total of six times to the chest, back and left hand as he assisted his ailing cousin, eighteen year old Abilio Cab.

“So one person did the stabbing?”
Abilio Cab
“Yeah. And then like five of them ketch Ebelio and Kevin stab him like five times I think or more. I noh know, but I just see he take the knife and start to stab like crazy.”
Duane Moody
“Why would he attack you guys?”
“I don’t know because he is my good friend and I talk good to he. I don’t know what happened.”
The incident occurred just a block away from the police station…not that it would have made a difference as according to residents, there has been no police presence in the village for several years.
Marcelo Moh, Father of Milton Moh
“We are lack of police in the village. There is a police station there empty for quite a while and nobody is taking care of the police station and these boys need some attention from the parents. They way I see, there is no attention from the parents that’s why they go about the place and do what they want to do in the village. This is not the first time. It is every weekend from since this Chinese place open—like a bar and restaurant—there have been problems every weekend.”
The fourth person injured in the attacked now tagged as an attempted murder is thirty-two year old Cain Quewell with whom it is believed the group had a previous altercation. He received cut wounds to the left hand and buttocks. Duane Moody for News Five.
Two persons have since been detained in connection with this incident.
We have been mentioning for years that a village of around 3000 people cannot be without any police presence, but we are being completely ignored. Lots of criminals come over at the hammock bridge and hide in Branch and Santa Familia. How much more murdering and stealing has to happen before we get police in this village?
what happen in santa familia is very serious as well the crime rate in belize city. i am a belizean living in cancun but i keep a breast of the things happening in our jewel.
i would like to see that our present government to start a booth camp program for these young delicuents , teach them various arts such as agriculture , carpentry etc. as well train them military wise so they get discipline.donot place them with the crude prisoners at hattieville. i know there are good military personel that would like to continue training but the way should be and these youths will be able to change their life style. belize is growing in population and we need good families and not homebreakers. so, get these youths to do something worthwhile.!!!!
Well the criminal is walking on the street he is out!!
